sorry to post again. some people are complaining that the story isn't real. uh... duh. it's hollywood. have they ever made something that is completely true? they want to make it appealing for the audience. on that note, if you're not into movies like Pride and Prejudice or Sense and Sensibility, then you probably aren't going to like it. so consider the genre and the story before you watch it. And yes, the movie is depressing. but i think that is what made it good. if you don't like sad movies, then you probably shouldn't watch it. i'm sorry if you only like the happy movies without tears. go watch Snow White or something. if you want to enjoy a heart-wrenching film, then this is for you. and it does have some "boring" parts, but i suppose that they are only boring for people who don't have the brain capacity to understand it. keep in mind the time period that this is set in. it isn't always "skip down the lane, i'm happy!" there aren't always happy endings to life. deal with it.

This was the most awesome movie ever!!! someone said that it was a little sad... uh not my opinion. i cried the whole second half of the movie... non stop. i don't think it was a LITTLE sad. but that's my opinion. i can't believe the movie came out today!!! i can't wait to go get it! anyone who hasn't seen it really needs to. rent it and watch it. you won't be sorry. plus, James McAvoy has the most beautiful eyes... it's amazing. i am also a fan of Anne Hathaway. this is a must see!

I thought this film was lovely to watch and very light-hearted (who cares if it not completley true - Hollywood never is).
However, as much as I love Anne Hathaway I do believe James McAvoy carried the film (that may be because I go all girly when he comes on screen lol).
Also, just want to mention how un-flattering Anne Hathaway's clothes were in the film - none of the other women wore such clothes that made their figures look quite strange at times - just my opinion.

Every scene was masterfully crafted to contain absolutely no trace of value! Crammed to capacity with boredom in every single microbe, this movie should be avoided by everybody! On the bright side though, if you are suicidal, but just cant get the courage to kill yourself watch this and see just what this movie offers!

I just came home from a pre-release of this movie and I must say that I absolutely loved it. This portrayal of her life is a beautiful, yet at times saddening story of love and the choices people make to be with or without the ones they love. Her life clearly shows as the inspiration for her novels in this depiction. A wonderful movie fit for those who enjoyed Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, and although I have yet to see it, Emma. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and plan to see it again as well as purchase it when it is finally released...I can't wait.

I have to disagree with bec1989, although it is only my opinion. I would say that Anne Hathwawy is quite pretty, but far from the "typical attractive hollywood star". I think she is a very good choice.

So, from the sounds of it they dont stay together at the end, since they were never married IRL...that sux.
