here's the deal i would have probably never watched this movie had my friend not left it at my house. i was surprised to see the dude from the karate kid in this movie.... well i guess i can see why he hasnt been in many movie's lately lol. i was even more surprised that this was actually an alright movie but it focuses way to much on laughs instead of being realistic.
Artie Lange isn't funny... Ralph Macchio isn't a good actor.
What makes them think they could make a movie?
Look at the movie poster... they're 17 years behind the curve. How many terrible movie posters have you seen from the 90s that look just like that. The characters between the legs of a woman in stalkings... it's not clever... it's not funny... it's just NOT GOOD
Sadly Tina Fey was involved and she's quite hilarious.
Well whatever it tanked and i'm glad. Howard Stern produced this garbage and lost money on it.
I'll give this 3 stars for at least getting some quality laughs in spurts, and for extensive naughty language. This film reminds me a lot of softball games at my family reunions

This movie's a lot like it's star, Artie Lange--it's slovenly, crude and an overall waste, but can somehow pull it together by the end while being somehow likable. It has a few fun cameos. I liked Beer League because it wasn't wishy washy and safe instead of wonderfully politically incorrect with its humor. Picture New Jersey douchebags cast in a remake of The Bad News Bears.
Brings you back to the time when comedies weren't afraid to be politically incorrect. When the film industry is stuck in a game of childlike pretend, we have a hero to bring us back to our senses. That hero, is Artie Lange, the writer of this comedy that reminds you of the good old days of comedy.
Once a year a movie like this comes along about beer, a sport and babes. And every year it fails to be good. The only thing that is good about this movie is that it was a shorter movie and it was about softball. This might be the only movie I have seen about softball (mens). The comedy at parts can be funny, but it just doesn't keep the story alive. The story could of been better, but what do you expect from a beer named movie. The comedy again is good at times, and makes me laugh but not enough. Overall this might be one to rent if you just out of movies to watch, but I don't suggest watching this one.
I love Howard Stern and Artie Lang. But this movie just wasn't that funny. Every possible funny part is predictable and the rest of the movie is depressing. How could the Karate Kid do this to me!
First, I must admit a bias here: I'm a huge fan of Artie Lange. I've seen his stand-up live and even got to meet him once when I asked him to sign my Dirty Work DVD (another comedy classic). So, when Artie stars in his own movie that he co-wrote, I'm going to allow for a few misfires. While this movie does have some, they are few and far between. Never fear, Beer League is hilarious.
With quotable lines, swearing, hot naked chicks, politically incorrect jokes, and doofy characters, this movie has everything you'd want in an R rated comedy. No, it's not a masterpiece, but Beer League made me laugh my ass off.
I really liked this movie. I like Artie Lang and figured it would have some funny scenes in it but had no idea it would be as funny as it turned out to be. Artie Lang wrote and starred in a low budget but very well done movie with a great supporting cast including Ralph Macchio as his straight laced best friend and Laurie Metcalf as his mom.
This is a real funny movie. It was average with the storyline, but the comedy in the movie makes it a 4 star movie. It is funny seeing Ralph Macchio grown up. Really didn't realize it was him at first. Nik L.
Very funny total guy movie.A lot of laugh out loud parts.Dont worry about following the plot too closely though.Just a fun movie about men behaving badly..
"i used to fuck guys bigger than you in prison"

Even though i give this 2/5, it's not a bad movie. There's a lot of promise in beer league, it just does'nt quite deliver.
It takes a good half an hour to click into this movie, the dialogue is a little flattly delivered, with all the "fucks" feeling a little forced or read from the page rather than acted. In fact on the whole the dialogue sounds as if it was hilarious on the page but does'nt quite translate to the screen
Artie Lange as the lead was a tough sell, he ain't looking to be loved but you soon warm to the guy and the rest of the cast are either set up's for the gags or underused, except the "bad guy" who middle finger dance had me chuckling lots
Not a terrible movie, just not the "cult favorite" i was after...worth a look
