The Broken Lizard Comedy Group, which gave us the cult hit Super Troopers and the less successful Club Dread, returns with a stupidly funny film that celebrates all things beer-related. Jay Chandrasekhar directed The Dukes Of Hazzard on his own.
American brothers Todd and Jan travel to Oktoberfest and stumble upon a super-secret, centuries-old beer-games contest called Beerfest ? the Olympics of beer-drinking. Once there, the brothers are ridiculed by their German cousins, who drink them under the table. Vowing to return in a year to defend their family (and national) honour, the Wolfhouse boys assemble a dream team of beer-drinkers and gamers.
This flick has everything a bloke flick should ? bad language, topless women, toilet humor and beer. Lots and lots of beer. But it?s hard to take seriously (even to the extent that this film could be taken seriously) a plot which would have us believe that the US, a nation known for its weak beer and abstemious approach to drinking, can really take on all comers when it comes to downing the ale. And the portrayal of the English beer-drinking team, complete with Cockney slang and jokes about bad teeth, is tediously hackneyed. But watch out for amusing cameos from Willie Nelson and Donald Sutherland.
Oh man... i love these film makers. great movie with a hilarious storyline. i want to see these guys do a movie with view a skew productions. picture this, "Super Troopers meet Jay and Silent Bob"
A fun, mindless comedy that had me laughing. I liked there first movies (not as much as others), but this one might be there best because they are getting better at actual film making. Although this one has no plot, I thought the pacing and writing were the best of any of their movies.
omfg..... thank god someone came out with a new hilarious fresh movie that was actually FUNNY!! 2nd best comedy film of all time (next to anchorman of course)
It was funny. And that's all I can really say about it. However, I did like how the old dude (that died at the beginning) drank 3 (huge)mugs of beer like right before he died...I thought that that was kinda cool.
I remember seeing the previews for this and thinking it looked pretty funny, but I never got around to seeing it in the theaters. Now I've come to appreciate the 5 bucks I didn't have to waste on it by watching it on HBO (Hey, I don't pay for that subscription either). A cast that's so far from funny the jokes feel forced and are too predictable. 3 things in this movie made me laugh: The variety of yamakas the jewish guy had, the german team (arguably the only reason to see the movie) and the old man at the end who calls the german coach a pussy.
This movie made me laugh a lot but the story was not all there. Probably not the best by Chandrasekhar, but still in his top ones though. The cast was great as always and there were some very funny memorable scenes.
no im shure a lot of blond chicks showing their chests just like in those bad porkies movies of the late 70's which i have to admit i saw the first two of them
After seeing the first part I was expecting the ultimate skullrape of German culture. But it turned out not that bad. And when the fat guy drowned in the beertank it really made me cry.
Bad comedy, terrible acting, couldn't really sit through it all so I FF to the end to see the outcome (yeah I cheated, but I did watch more than an hour into it before FF).
I'm german and I was kinda shoked as I watched this movie... this film is one big cliché! Funny and annoying sterotypes but if you like a bunch of guys act stupid here you go!
