Not at all the rendition I was hoping for, in fact, this movie made no sense in setting, and in plot. It left way too many plot holes, and the story behind Beowulf changes dramatically and not in a good way. I enjoyed the 2007 rendition much better. To elaborate, Chris Lambert's speaking role was severely savaged by under-writing and his performance was knocked off course by the horrible (but hot) acting of Rhona Mitra. The acting as a whole was terrible, and the plot did nothing but spiral downward the entire way.

I dont want to see this, cos it seems Christopher Lambert will be playing Beowulf. And that's just pathetic !!!

I preferred this version of the Beowulf legend. Real actors playing the parts. Lambert does a great job.

Beowulf bandwagon movie. In other words, someone's attempt to confuse people so they go to this one instead of the better CGI version of the story. This particular film is, craply, set in the future (oh what a surprise and such an original approach!).
It's useless - don't bother wasting your time and money on this.
    Do the washing up instead.

½ star because I couldn't give it 0, the system doesn't allow it. Terrible adaptation of the ancient Beowulf saga. This is another one of those stories which just doesn't make it as a movie. The original document with the story is in the British Museum in London and that's where it should stay.

This movie sucked. It tries to do some sort of futuristic/dark ages mix thing which it does not pull off well at all. It is loosely based on the original tale. I try to forget that this exists.

I love this Movie and not to Mention the Soundtrack. I m always surprised with Lamberts Multi Talents.

    Now my Absolute Fav Quote:

Beowulf: How big was it? What kind of armour? Was it sheilded? Was it exposed?
Will: It was...it was ugly, man.

I liked this Beowulf story, although the 3D animated monster could be made a bit more believeable. All in all, a good fantasy to watch.

This is one of the greatest movies i have ever seen!
I can say that Lambert is the most proper actor for Beowulf in it!

    Predator goes medeivial.
Very entertaining movie, perfect for those hangover sundays when you just want that stupid historical violence.
The movie in itself has virtually nothing to do with the actual legend of Beowulf. + very weird outdated techno/metal soundtrack.

I don't know if it was the writing or the acting at fault, but the characters were all over the map. It could have been so much more.

Watch it for Christopher Lambert and the effects and not much else. I hope they at least paid him well for this.

Christopher Lambert should have known better than to be in this awful adaptation of the classic story. Not even a half-naked Layla Roberts could save this turkey!

Beowulf translates the ancient epic poem of the same name into a postapocalyptic Road Warrior-style future, in which a military outpost is being invaded by a monstrous, blood-thirsty creature. Drawn hither by the evil emanations comes B...

This movie would be okay, if you haven't read the original story. And at that it would only be okay. It is rather weak.

Lambert's best movie (in my husband's opinion is the Highlander series. But I liked him in Mortal Kombat. I didn't like this one that much.

My favorite of any Beowulf movie. Lambert makes it look super sexy. It's definitely more, hip? and cool than just ranting and raving in words that don't make sense to me. And the chick is totally hotness.

I like the Epic Poem too much to watch someone else butcher it on the screen! Does not translate to film! It is a poem!!!!!!!

As much as I like Christopher Lambert, this treatment of Beowulf was nothing short of blasphemous. The anachronistic approach to sets and props was marginally interesting, but there could be nothing more inauthentic to the cornerstone of English literature than reducing Beowulf to the son of a demon, a man without family or friends. This runs contrary to the heroic ideal espoused in the original tale and cheap special effects are not enough to redeem the director's shameful hatchet job.

i think maybe you'd have to be familiar with the epic poem to fully appreciate this movie, but if you are, it's a great movie
