The movie isn't that great, but if you watch it in 3D it's pretty cool. Probably not worth the watch otherwise. But since you can't watch it in 3D at home, I suggest not renting this. Only good in theatres.
ok movie nothing that impressed me much. Some things was kinda funny for me being from Denmark you see cliffs and mountains all over the movie, neither can be found in Denmark, it don´t ruin the movie it´s just kinda funny. Some of the animation is very good and some seems avreage at best, alost like a cartoon at some times, i like both things but not mixed together in the same movie.
One of the worst movies of the year, Grendel and Grendel's mother were horribly animated. Horrible adapation of a clissic movie, could have been better if it were live action, but it's hard to believe that anything could save this train wreck.
Don't even get me started. Looked like trash, sounded like trash and smelled like trash. I've read the book(s) and I'm quite aware of how lame the story would be to translate, especially since it is written originally in old anglo-saxon.
In any case, to make it any good, the story would have to be heavily modified. Unfortunately the moron's they pay don't decide to just make their own movie and just grab a name, change the story, etc... because morons will pay for tickets based on the title of the movie, regardless of the fact that they haven't even read it.
Moron's that go to see it probably think Beowulf is the name of the monster, just like they do in Frankenstein. Enough said.

The plot was the "meh" thing in this film. It wasn't that close to the poem. The characters were all dysfunctional and some were hateful. And they all liked talking about sex (except Wealthow).
Above all, this is an average film. The director's cut was the best. The animation saved it.
actually not bad but the all cgi giimmick feels exactly like that a gimmick. its hard to connect with the characters and whilst its fun in places u dont feel anything for the characters come the end, nice idea though
My friend told me it was terrible, my family loved it, and the reviews seemed to linger somewhere inbetween so naturally i was a but aprihensive when i put the DVD on. From the first five minuted i knew i would love this film and by god, i did. Breathtakin graphics, amazing storyline, wonderfully horrifying, yet all of this couldnt set a side the major negative that was the choice of ray winston for the main man - kinda killed it but the rest makes it all worth it.
At first I thought I wouldn't like it because it was all CGI, but it is amazing you can get camera shot's that you can't see with a regular scene. Absolutely fascinating!
It's a good action movie, and it's different from all other movies, because pf the graphic. It was like a video game, but it was a movie, you know. Ray Winstone's voice was perfect for Beowulf, his voice made all the difference. Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, John Malkovich and Angelina Jolie was good aswell. I'm (sorry) to say that I've started to like Jolie. Very cool movie even though there were parts I didn't quite understand.
When I first saw the poster for this movie, I didn't know that it was computer animated because it looked so real. If computer graphics continue to be like this, will real life actors and actresses be needed anymore? Voices would be the only thing required.
The synopsis is great, kinda shakesperian tragedy and the nordic setting is cool. Thank you Niel Gaiman for the screenplay. The animations ranges from ok to awsome. They even managed to make a cool dragon. credds! Unfortunatly with animated movies you spend an awful lot of time examining every singel detail and are forgetting to enjoy the story.
a animação, apesar de ser muito inovadora e cheia de detalhes, faz com que os personagens pareçam mortos vivos às vezes... principalmente a personagem de angelina jolie, mto estranha... mas tirando isso, o filme é sensacional, a história é mto legal tmb, vale a pena assistir com pipoca e tudo mais! diversão na certa!
Hmmm,excepections for this one were way to high,the beginning was okay but quikly fell off and I found it hard to watch after the first 1/2 hour.Computer animation was good enough but still lacked something.
Incredibly flat plot line and animation... I gave it a half star more because I watched it in 3D. Never read the original Old English poem in high school but from what I hear, the plot was only loosely based on it anyway. Whether I'm heard right or...(read more) wrong, my advice would be to save your money unless you're a die-hard Beowulf fan... and I'm sure that's very likely.
