A cooky little movie, in the usual Cusack mould. If you're a fan of Ferris Bueller's Day off or the slightly more off beat 80s comedies then add this to the must watch list.
Every parent needs to watch this movie. It explains in great detail what a typical teenager goes through in high school. And it's extremely funny and youll laugh your ass off!
one of the weirdest films ever, it had some good ideas but never quite pulled them off. John Cusack is hilarious and as usual unbelievably witty, but that's al it has going for it
Lane Meyer (John Cusack) meets French foreign-exchange student named Monique (Diane Franklin) is staying with Lane's neighborhood across the street to pretend she can't speak English but she can speak English only with Lane.
This is a dry, twisted movie. Less about teen angst and more about mediocrity. Reminds me of me, that is when I was feeling sorry for myself and thought the world was against me. I quote this movie often.
This movie was very funny/ I love how when the girl came over for dinner and the family was trying to impress her by serving french food and some of the food was french fries, french bread and all. The mother had an accent, and it was pretty funny. I thought watching this movie reminded me of some of the older movies which will always be classics.
wow! john cussack shows he can do it all. its hilarious this. just some crazy stunts like the paper boy who is insane. the japanese racers. and many more. its also a sweet sweet film too. its a good 80's flick. worth watching in my eyes.
Lane Myer (john cusack) gets dumped by his grilfriend for a boy who can ski the k-12. Lane thinks maybe death would be the best way out of this desprate time. But when he meet the french exchange student she cheers him up, one of the weirdest 80s movie i've seen. i love it, sweet movie.
'I want my two dollars!"
I have this thing about a cafe and 50 cents. Just ask Bt or my mum. The paperboy and the $2 thing is something I need to see. Update - I finally watched it! A good 80's flick.
After watching this movie, it's easy to see why John Cusack got every acting job he's ever gotten since he plays just about every part in this film. It was a great film, but the truth of the matter is that there was a lot of really crazy, non-continuous things that happened in the film that was never touched on and didn't make sense. But, don't let that scare you, this movie was a fantastic watch.
The mom is one of my favorite characters out of all of the movies I've ever seen! It makes me so happy that the dad actually loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with her!
One of John Cusack's best to date! Very cute movie! I want my 2 dollars my 2 dolllars!! Great 80's classic! Sweet Bad Ass Camaro he has in this movie too! I love '69 Camaros! Black is soo badass!
The film is hilarious, and it's characters wonderfully off-beat with perfect dark humor, I just wish the quirkyness of it all had gone to a better formed story or more rootable characters. Still, John Cusack is as amazing as he has always been.
I could not love this movie more. There are so many great characters, and true to life situations. If you've ever gone through a break-up you'll relate to the cold nature of an ex, the new boyfriend, and little things like only hearing break-up songs on the radio. Amanda Wyss is so bitchy as his ex-girlfriend that I almost always follow this movie with a skip to her horrible murder in Nightmare on Elm Street. But, then again, I'm a sentimental guy.
Funniest line in a movie ever:"Such a shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that." I can't believe John Cusack feels this is one of the worst movies he ever made and regrets doing it! This one defines dark comedy, but the comedy way outweighs the depressing tone.
this movie starts to get good when the super-cute French girl starts talking. Savage Steve Holland's satirical sense of humor takes some time to get used to, but it is clever. this is def an 80's classic.
Classic 80s flick, so just "mellow off." I mean why shouldn't you get 5-stars when you mix claymation, Van Halen, and flipping burgers? It doesn't get any better than that!
