Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

""Beware the Gonzo" isn't bad, it's just that for a film aiming to celebrate media rebellion it feels timid and unadventurous."
‑ Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times
"Creates a recognizably adolescent milieu that's also a workable metaphor for the anxieties of the 21st-century press corps."
‑ Eric Hynes, Time Out New York
"High school reporter exposes bully in teen comedy with edge."
‑ S. Jhoanna Robledo, Common Sense Media
""Beware the Gonzo" is a thoroughly amateurish effort at capturing clued-in and smartass teens."
‑ Kyle Smith, New York Post
"Too cute by half."
‑ Melissa Anderson, Village Voice
"A crusading young reporter's high-school underground newspaper becomes a rallying point for the bullied and the outcast in this low-budget drama filmed in Brooklyn and Queens."
‑ Frank Lovece, Film Journal International
"With its stacked moral deck, student stereotypes and false, halfhearted ending, "Beware the Gonzo" is really formula straining at the seams to be more."
‑ Stephen Holden, New York Times
"While it covers familiar ground, it does so with a light touch."
‑ Ethan Alter, Television Without Pity
"A dramedy set in the present day that doesn't seem to know much about the present day."
‑ Kalvin Henely, Slant Magazine
