Bienvenue parmi nous (Welcome Abroad)
Acclaimed artist Taillandier (Patrick Chesnais) grows disenchanted with his life and abandons his family, sans explanation; meanwhile, teenager Marylou (Jeanne Lambert) flees from her abusive stepfather. Taillandier is seeking a surrogate daughter, and Jeanne a surrogate daughter; as their lives intersect, they discover the perfect solution in each other. A friendship begins to form and the two ultimately decide to move in together, as the closest of friends. Jean Becker directs.

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"[Looks] no further than the usual odd-couple clichťs and opting for trite story beats rather than believable characterisation."
‑ Trevor Johnston, Time Out
"There's plenty to savour in Chesnais' expertly judged performance, while Becker's warmth towards the gentle pace of life in provincial France is palpable."
‑ Tom Dawson, Total Film
"Two lost, wounded souls repair their lives in affecting dramedy"
‑ Don Groves, sbs.com.au
"This is business as usual for Becker, albeit with a fine turn from French stalwart, Patrick Chesnais."
‑ David Jenkins, Little White Lies
