    Big Dreams Even Bigger Reality

Big Dreams Little Tokyo is anything but a little indie movie. Directed, written and inspired by Dave Boyle, Big Dreams is a story of moving up in the world, even if the world you live in isn?t easy. This story is told through the eyes of an America...( read more)n businessman named Boyd who is also played by Boyle, and his friend Jerome who is an aspiring Sumo wrestling Japanese American. Both Boyle and Jerome share a common bond not because they are roommates but because they both have trouble adjusting to the Japanese culture in an American city. Despite being fluent in Japanese, having written a book, and owning several language school chains, Boyle often finds himself on the outside looking in at the Japanese society. Jerome on the other hand, struggles with weight and health issues concerning his sumo career, and finds it difficult with not being Japanese enough and too Japanese to help Boyle teach English. At times Boyle?s character seems dry, lacking of emotion, and a bit over working and obsessed to get his business afloat. In contrast, Jerome seems often lazy and more concerned with eating than with helping pay for the rent. However, both of these clashing personalities are able to blend perfectly together and mold a true tale of triumph. Big Dreams is not about big dreams. It?s about making big dreams and any dream a reality. Throughout the story we see Boyle get rejected and ridiculed time and time again. However, he does not lose hope and continues to keep his entrepreneurial spirit alive. Anyone will tell you that starting and maintaining a business isn?t an easy task by no means. But the drive that you have and the friends and partners that you meet along the way is what really gets things started. The fact that Dave Boyle, wrote, directed, and even starred in the script tells a lot. Big Dreams Little Tokyo is anything but a dream. It?s a reality.

It was a cute movie. Quirky and touching, it made racial differences laughable and comical. My favorite character was probably Jerome.
