WOW this was just a fun movie to watch :D I really have no words to say about this movie, it was really funny. awkward (lol), concerning and very different. Also how Billy was very very pretty xD<3
i love this movie especially how it captures the english work strike-time and how a young boy was able to forfill his dreams when in those days being a professional dancer was easy - for a girl not a boy

All right for your Nana, for girls. No, not for lads, Billy. Lads do football... or boxing... or wrestling. Not friggin' ballet.
Directed by: Stephen Daldry Starring: Jamie Bell, Gary Lewis, Julie Walters, Jamie Draven, Stuart Wells
Genre: Comedy/Drama
Running time: 110 minutes
My review:
I thought that this film was absolutely superb. This was way above my expectations of what I was expecting from this film. The cast in this film is absolutely superb and so are all of the performances within the film. Jamie Bell delivers an outstanding performance as Billy Elliot. I could easily tell that Jamie was enjoying playing this character. Billy takes great steps to get to where he wants to get even though his father and brother don?t want him to become a ballet dancer but Billy doesnt give in to something that he enjoys and that he has a great passion for. Also, because ballet is more of a girl activity, Billy still enjoys it even though he is obviously a boy. Julie Walters delivers an even better performance as Mrs. Wilkinson in her Oscar nominated performance. Her character was a very mysterious character who is a bit of a hard character but she is a sweet woman aswell who wants to help Billy. Jackie Elliot who is Billys father is a mean and strict man who has been troubled since his wife and Billys mother died. He starts to realise how vile he has been until he sees Billy perform and the same with his brother Tony Elliot. Tony is a young man who is a vile man who always mistreats his brother and bullies him and swears at him. It is terrible because he doesn?t set a very good example to his brother. Because of this, when Billy gets upset or angry about something he starts swearing and hitting people for no reason and trying to cause an argument. Brilliant Oscar nominated direction from Stephen Daldry. This would be a definite family film if there wasn?t a lot of swearing involved in the film. This is a warm hearted film that can touch peoples hearts in lots of different ways.
I remember I wanted to see this movie forever ago when it came out, just got around to it tonight. This is hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen.A great cast and a great story of a boy that simple just loved to dance pure and simple.I have a huge soft spot for the underdog movies and boy this fits it to a T.If you have not had the pleasure of seeing this amazing film make it the next on your list because it is truly that special.Billy Elliot-AMAZING!
The best of its 'working class Northerners' genre, Billy Elliot doesn't have enough set-up, some characters are underused and it is too melodramatic, but it is enjoyable, often funny and touching and Jamie Bell as Billy, a boy in the midst of the 80s miners' strikes who wants to be a ballet dancer, is excellent.

I saw this completely by accident and I'm really glad I did. This was a really great movie. I t was sweet and made you feel. Jamie Bell is really a great actor, and it shows here.
Yes, I will admit that the only reason seeing this movie was to see Jamie Bell. BUT even if I didn't know anything about Jamie Bell I still would hold this movie high up on my list of favorites. I just wish I would have seen this movie when it came out.
for some strange reason, i must have cried at least 3 times while watching this movie...i was touched by scenes between the youngest son, the elder son, and the widowed father, plus the ailing grandma, working on what they've got left in their hands, amidst all life's struggles...& being brave, and knowing, pursuing what they want with their lives....
British cinema really is brilliant, and Billy Elliot is a shining example of this. Billy Elliot is a northern lad living with his Dad, Older brother and Nan in the midst of the 1980's miners strike. By accidentally enrolling in a ballet class, Billy soon discovers his incredible dance abilities, a talent that does not go un-noticed by dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson. Through her tutoring and his sheer determination, he struggles against prejudice, doubt, and a chauvanist family who are unsure of what to make of his incredible ability. The story itself is completely compelling, but it is made even more so by a number of things. First to be credited is the immense acting and dancing abilities of Jamie Bell who is faultless in the eponymous role. His acting style is so realistic and understated, and his dancing is incredibly masculine and powerful. He is provided with brilliant support from Julie Walters who is wonderful in her hardened yet sympathetic role, but it is Gary Lewis who really shines as Billy's father, struggling financially, emotionally and physically due to his incredibly stretching social circumstances. Daldry provides a clear un-complicated directive style in order to compliment the powerful performances, and the 80's based soundtrack slots so perfectly in to this near-perfect piece of cinema. Absolutely unmissable.
Very cool and very original and creative story for a movie. I can't really explain why exactly, but I really liked the performance of the young Jamie Bell in this movie. Too bad he grew up to be a mediocre actor.
A modern triumph of which the British should be extremelly proud of. This will make you go over any obstacle for achieving your goals and dreams, since that is what life expects from you. Two thumbs up.
i saw it was cute those britishers can come up with some kewl stuff i prefer foreign films way over american american films reflect that which is most important in america green
Uplifting and inspirational, says I! If Billy's dancing defiance of his father in the gym doesn't make you want to stand up and cheer, there's something wrong with you.
And, hey, there's lot of T-Rex on the soundtrack. What's not to love?
This film is amazing! Jamie Bell, Julie Waters, Gary Lewis, Jamie Draven and the rest of the cast are all amazing in it. The story is one that is really touching, and i'm sure that anybody who watches this will be inspired.
There's something rather nice about this movie. Perhaps the fact that it is so real, lends it a unique perspective. In the end its about making it in life.
