Much like the animated film Watership Down, this movie has a lot of trouble deciding a targeted audience. It's far too dark for children yet has a kiddie plot. Both films are based on novels, but it's one thing to read about more mature things and quite another to see it.

The perfect adaptation of the book, beautiful for adults and children alike. Good all round cast. Glorious music, atmosphere and acting, particularly by Thewlis and Bean. I have such fond memories of this film.

A tear-jerking movie based on the book, a semi-metaphor of the human life. Beautiful music, beautiful scenes. The ending will bring you about many tears, if not, at least some sniffs from us tough guys.
