I liked this movie. It has an old fashioned horror movie feel and look to it.

A man that was traumatized while living on a sheep farm returns many years later when his brother decides to sell the farm. But little does he know that his brother had genetically engineered a new she...( read more)ep that carries a mutating virus. Now anyone bit becomes a were-sheep.

Lots of funny and messed up stuff in this movie. An all New Zealand cast complete with those awesome accents.

I rented this movie, and I found it in the comedy section. When I saw the name, I thought it would be about Gangster sheep. Actually it was about man eating sheep. There were scenes that I found funny, but this didn't really feel like one. There's a lot of gruesome moments that a...( read more)t times looked a bit fake, and at other times were truly gruesome. I guess this is an original concept, and what I think worked with it is that whenever a sheep appears in the film, you get scared. The location they used was good. The acting, characters and plot were all shitty. I did find this funny - mostly because it was such a silly film, but there were scenes that were genuinly funny. There's some enjoyment to be found - and that enjoyment is at a high level.

Okay, mutant sheep attack some kiwis. There's no need to sell this movie any more than that.

Killer Mutant Sheep. What else do you need?

(The one without Chris Farley). Comedy Horror where genetic experimenting produces lethal sheep on a ranch in New Zealand, which also turn those who survive the sheep attacks into Sheep/ Human hybrid killers. This is one of those funny ideas with a crappy script. Theres a "hipp...( read more)y" chick who provided very unfunny jokes about auras, chakras, and Feng Shui. Watching people being attacked by sheep is fun for a while, but I ended up wanting this film to end at least 20 minutes before it did. Kudos for using little CGI and mostly puppets! But in the end, New Zealanders just aren't that funny.

This movie was totally hilarious and totally predictable...if I was drunk while I watched it I probably would have pissed my pants.

it's hilarious, gory and it shows an inventive degree of talent

    An average New Zealand Vampire/Zombie/Sheep-drama.
A lot of gore and evil in woll.

This was a great and unqiue film it was a gore and comedy with very good special effects. Instead of werewolves we have weresheep! I think New Zealand shows alot of promise in the world of horror.

A realy bad horror movie, I felt it was 90 minutes that was wasted.
  • August 16, 2009
Not a great movie, but an interesting "Sci-fi"? flick. Either way a few laughs can be had here and there. So watch at your own risk.

Marvellous little film! Obviously a homage to the slapstick horror of films such as Braindead, it is excellent on many levels..Lashings of gore and heapings of funny, and a sweet undertone; it's hard to resist films where the underdog truimphs..Moreover it plays out in a way more...( read more) fitting for a fantasy tale, with a haunting, pretty soundtrack and a series of bizarre characters that find themselves in increasingly bizarre conundrums. I have of course completely digressed-This is a film about zombie-vampire-sheep! How the devil can you go wrong...?

Uh, this film has Zombie Sheep in it. So, why exactly are you on this website reading reviews and not watching it?

I knew that there were two versions of films entitled "Black Sheep" so I thought I had gotten a wrong version based on how lighthearted this film started.

Seems like a tribute, or should I say an expansion on the hilariousness from the scene from Bad Taste where the sheep explod...( read more)es. It follows a similar comedic tone with gore aplenty. The gore attempts to gross you out and jump cuts have you looking at raw food being prepared. The gore is also very realistic and the non-CGI killer animals (Except for the background stampede scene) for once had me wondering how they managed the effects.

The simple story borrows from many zombie films; contaminated sheep bite or mutilate and the infected become its ilk, either zombi- or werewolf-like. It's all surrounded in hilariousness. The dialogue is some funny stuff and the way sheep attack some folks is funny in a slapstick kind of way. Even the ecology content is made fun of in the dialogue and the way things turn out ironically.

I did not know that new zealands humour is even blacker then the english one. This movie does mix horror-elements with humour and it does work quite well with me :)

  • June 17, 2009
I've heard horrible things about this movie, but I have to admit, it's original.
  • June 3, 2009
A real disappointment. If you want some fine comedy, just watch the trailer, as the film itself can't tell if it wants to be fun or serious. There are a few honestly chilling moments, and a couple decent laughs, but it falls apart when it tries to push a stupid ham-fisted moral. ...( read more)The potential is there for a camp classic, but...ugh. It just doesn't go anywhere with its ideas.

Sheep are not the first thing that springs to mind when you are thinking of scaring someone. And this film is far from scary. It's just good old fashioned stupid gore and laughter. Unfortunately not nearly as funny or gory as the ultimate New Zealand gore fest 'Braindead'. But it...( read more)'s a good effort and will appeal to genre fans.

  • April 8, 2009
    REALLY FUNNY MOVIE LOL
  • April 8, 2009
Learn from my mistake: This is NOT a remake of the 1996 classic starring Chris Farley and David Spade. The sheep in this movie aren't even black! Spoiler alert.

I went into this film with high hopes, but no expectations and I was very impressed with it. This is a great zombie film with plenty of suspense and jump-out-of-your seat moments. The actors all did a great job and it was shot extremely well. It is a very fun and high quality mov...( read more)ie. I had read someone else's comments about it being full of low-brow humor and fart jokes, but there were actually only two jokes in the entire movie that would be described that way.

Anyone who likes the "serious" zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later would enjoy this film as would the audiences of lighter films like Shaun of the Dead. It's somewhere in-between the two. I definitely recommend it.
