Plot: There are 40 million sheep in New Zealand and only 4 million inhabitants. After a genetic experiment goes wrong, New Zealand's sheep start turning nasty, and it's the humans who begin bleating.
bizarre and well mad film. good effects but of the wall too, but well worth the watch. not totally funny, but i giggle here and there.
Funny.Could have been even better without the PETA-istic(don't know how to say it) approach, some charachter like the major in Slither and more ironic script.
Non male. Un po' troppo programmatico per essere davvero trash. Il Peter Jackson degli esordi era pił indigesto ma pił personale.
Reeediculous! Zombie sheep and gore. That's what this movie is about. I've been looking forward to seeing this ever since the first concept sketches were released by Weta Workshop (my personal favorite effects team). After waiting so long I can't say that I'm fully satisfied with it but I realize this is my own fault. I say, though its story is lame, Black Sheep is a fun little watch. (If you're a fan of the genre that is...)
"There are 4 million sheep in New Zealand... and they are pissed off". I was expecting this to be a completely ridiculous, illogical, over the top movie and I was right. But for some reason I really loved it. If the director had tried to take the concept of mutant sheep people and made a serious movie out of such a funny concept it never would have worked. Fortunately, the movie was almost as much comedy as it was horror (I especially loved the taglines: "The Violence of the Lambs" "Get the flock out of here!). The whole "PETA-like people causing an apocalypse from releasing rabid animals" thing is a little overused but that was pretty much my only concern. I even winced at the cheesy gore a few times. This is great for anyone who wants to watch an entertaining movie without taking any of it seriously. The ending was probably the most insane part, which is also when I laughed the hardest. I really liked how they avoided the use of special effects since I much prefer makeup and costumes(especially in a low budget film that can only afford crappy computer animations, CGI kind of takes away the effect). I told the guy at blockbuster I rented this from "I'm renting a movie I know is bad so I won't be disappointed" but I think it was well worth my time and money.
This was excellent. So much fun!
Possibly the ultimate twist in Zombie movies!....Zombie Sheep!...genius!
As much gore as you want and riotous moments that will make you laugh your ass off. The hippies were hilarious (as they usually are in their ridiculous ways) and captured to perfection. The special effects were from Peter Jackson's FX shop so it shows that he still has love for this type of movie.
Watch it, it's great!
One of the funniest films made in years...very much influenced by the likes of Dead Alive and Braindead....lots of very well done make up and special fx...the gore is very well done...I really love this movie!!! But then again Dead Alive is my favortie horror flick of all time and the thougt of killer sheep is awesome. Definitely a good flick for stoners!!
Okay to enjoy this film~ first ,you have to understand sheep,
second you have to understand kiwi humor, and
third you have to know that all humans have a soul mate.
Now sit back and enjoy a bit of Non Sequitur humor, bloody gore, and everything Kiwi.
this movie is amazing...it's pretty much way over-the-top with its violence and humor. the concept of killer sheep is wonderful, if you ask me. the movie itself almost felt like dead alive...except with sheep. it's weird, bad, and funny...i couldn't ask for much more.
lol hmmmmm i dont think ill be able to not laugh during this lol. but heyy its somehtign different right? so i have to see it.
Completely over the top cheesy movie, reminds me of Dead Alive a great deal. Killer mutant sheep do I really have to say more?
what can i say you'll laugh so hard that you'll piss your self, no one could find this anything but extremely funny
The fact that anyone even thought to make a movie about man-eating zombie sheep makes this movie a must-see on its own. On top of that, it's actually a really good watch. Bloody, hilarious, and carrying a pretty clear message. But seriously, it's about man-eating zombie sheep - can you possibly make an excuse not to watch it?
A pretty hilarious take on the whole zombie genre. I laughed pretty much all the way through it. But its probably not to everyone's taste
It's supposed 2 be a horror but i couldn't stop laughing lol the thought of man eating sheep isn't really funny but i found it soo funny. I really recommened it but it's NOT for the squemish :)
Bit of a B movie but brilliant fun. Gore and laughter all in one film! You're never look a sheep in the eye the same way again!
IF this was about pigs, you could say they really hammed it up. I feel a bit sheepish having said that.
A great spoofy horror fi;m that's not too horror-filled.
A great little indie flick from outside the Hollywood machine.
This movie was ok. Not exactly what Id consider a horror film. Maybe for GuYs its a hell of a horror film (at the end Angus gets his ding-dong bit off by a sheep). And I found that hilarious.
Awful movie. The jokes don't work and most of the characters are annoying. I'm going to have to go watch Evil Dead 2 to get the bad taste of Black Sheep out of my mouth.
Baaaaaaaaaaad (sorry had to lol) in a good b-movie way. This film isn't taking itself too seriously and neither should you. Wonderfully cheesy!
Right off the bat: "Black Sheep" is the type of movie Peter Jackson would have done if he were to have just kept on doing movies like "Brain Dead" and "Bad Taste" instead of (the awful) "Lord Of The Rings" ones. Debut director Jonathan King gives us the best horror comedy since "Shaun Of The Dead", I mean, mutated flesh eating sheep and gore mixed with some fun jokes, how can you go wrong with that? Sure it's low budget and have some half-assed acting, but it's all bloody fun and well worth seeing.
I have no idea why an averagely-acted, averagely-directed, low-budget NZ movie about (dear god), killer sheep, where almost every scene is a rip from forty years of screen horror, would be funny.
But it is.
If you can make sheep scary, this movie does. As a contribution to the zombie genre, it's interesting and may be amusing to other viewers, as the script is obviously referencing tons of the more offbeat 70s and 80s zombie flix. I wasn't over or underwhelmed, but many will be likening this to Braindead (Dead Alive) no doubt. I recommend it, but it just didn't connect with me.
a suprisingly funny movie with zombie-like sheep in new zealand that kill pretty much everyone. i never new sheep could be so scary, and in this movie they did just that. the acting and editing was actuatlly a lot better than i originally thought.
this film is awesome and resulted in a funny trip to a farm whilst stoned with friends we all ways knew sheep were bad (well gaz did anyway)< if you know what thats from i love you
