I liked the regular version and the directors cut. In fact, the directors cut version has gotten so popular that I find it to be somewhat overated, but that has more to do with the fans who like to cut hairs back & forth between the two versions of the movie. I love this movie! However, I read the book and it sucked as did its sequal Blade Runner 2...! Ridley Scott is a God among men.

By the way, I loved the movie from the first time I saw it! It's a modern day sci-fi classic!!

It's weird how so many people have the exact same reaction to Blade Runner, where they originally hate it, but there opinion of it improves after re-watching it. There seems to be 6 stages, you either graduate to the next stage at each repeat viewing, or you stay exactly where you are:

Stage One: Bored to death. Were expecting a cool sci-fi film, instead got movie where nothing happens for long stretches of time.

Stage Two: The movie is sort of intersting. Though it does drag at times, the acting is good and the story is solid, so all in all a decent film.

Stage Three: This movie is really good. The characters and plot are deeply compelling, and I don't even find the slow parts boring anymore.

Stage Four: This is the greatest movie ever made.

Stage Five: The is humanity's greatest accomplishment.

Stage Six: Rutger Hauer is God.

I'm at stage six. Where are you at?

Well, I didn't really care much for the movie but then I read the book it's [loosely] based on, Do androids dream of electric sheep by Philip K Dick and the movie became a lot more entertaining.

You know, I think the film is a grower. When I first watched it I was bored to tears, but a few years later and a little wiser to the world I really enjoyed and I know count it as one of my fav films. I think because its regarded so highly it may be disappointing for some new viewers. It's a very dark moody piece and if your looking for Matrix style sci-fi, maybe should look elsewhere.

I dont know how I managed to miss this movie over the years, but I just saw it yesterday andw as really disappointed. I fell asleep about an hour and a half in.....They just couldnt "hold me". Maybe this was one that seemed way cooler when it first came out. Sure, the special effects were pretty cool...but the story didnt really grab me and there wasnt as much adventure or violence as I would have expected.
I am willing to MAYBE one day give it another shot (Or at elast watch the second half of it) Maybe I missed something.

And -yes- if Harrison Ford got naked I would definately give it a better rating!

    1) Harrison didnt have his top off long enough (he was sooooo fit in this film)
