Bruce Willis is one of my favorites and he does an excellent job in this comedy of him and a blind date
Good movie...
The story of the movie is good.
Kim Basinger and Bruce Willis did a good job.
This movie put me in a good mood although some scenes are a little boring but everything is cool.
I like it.
Bruce Willis goes on a blind date with Kim Basinger (well who wouldn't?) and gets into some bizarre situations.
A homage to the classic screwball comedies that lacks charm and needed to be shortened. some parts are hysterically funny though.
Bruce Willis' first (major) role in a movie is a simple light-hearted comedy from director Blake Edwards. Willis plays workaholic Walter Davis; he focuses all his attention on work, and is not interested in having a personal life. When compelled to bring a date to a work dinner, his brother Ted (Hartman) organises a blind date with beautiful blonde Nadia (Basinger). Although the date might sound really straight-forward, the night progresses as it turns into the date from hell! A simple premise that is expanded during its mildly short running time (like most of Blake Edwards' movies) has a satisfying amount of laughs...but only during the final 15-20 minutes. The first 70 minutes of the film are closer to drama crossed with black comedy as opposed to a fun comedy. I found most of the situations more tragic than funny, as things keep going from bad to worse. I decided to watch this movie because I'm such a big fan of Bruce Willis and this is his first major film role, but I guess I expected too much. This film met with a poor reception, and I can see how. When the clever laughs set in, you're already bored from the continuous scenes of drama that you're not sure whether you're supposed to be laughing! And the film loses its plot halfway through the running time as well. Bruce Willis is quite good in the leading role. He's charming and funny at times, but the script never gave him anything really overwhelming to work with. Basinger isn't too bad either. Blind Date is a very simple, one-note slapstick comedy that isn't very good. I expected more from Blake Edwards, who doesn't seem to be at his usual standard.
