He was in a robbery that went wrong, and after escaping he was kidnapped and tortured by a psychopath. Eventually free, he is returning on a bus through Chile to find his family. Although most are involved in crime, and some have ended up in jail as a result of Ignacio's actions, they see themselves as in some ways a typical bourgeois family, trying to stick together no matter what fate brings them.
