Set in the Middle Age, when mankind shared the planet with demons, The Blood of Rebirth opens to find freelance masseur Oguri (Tatsuya Nakamura) employed by a despotic lord (Kiyohiko Shibukawa) who suffers from an acute and painful supernatural infection. While performing his duties, Oguri forms a strong but silent bond to Princess Terute (Mayuu Kusakari), his employer's uniquely pretty handmaid. When Oguri turns down the lord's offer for permanent employment, he is savagely murdered. Upon his death Oguri is offered the option of going to either heaven or hell, but instead chooses to return to Earth in ghostly form. There, he discovers that the lord has recently purchased the nose of a Japanese demon from a mysterious traveling merchant (Hirofumi Arai). When Princess Terute steals the unusual artifact, the stage is set for an otherworldly confrontation between all of the key players, deep in the heart of the forest. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
