I was very curious about this one, as it's always mentioned in the same breath as The Witchfinder General, and it was well worth the wait.

The remote village that is swiftly overtaken by evil after a farmer unearths deformed remains in the fields nearby. The youths of the villa...( read more)ge are possessed by Satan, specifically Angel, who leads them into temptation as she tries to bring the devil back to earth.

The film has a very unsettling vibe, reminiscent of the Wicker Man in how much the village goes bad so quickly.

Give it a look if you can track it down, it's worth the digging.

Thank you Anchor Bay,you've done it again. This DVD came in the excellent Tigon Collection boxset along with Wichfinder General ,and this classic horror has never looked better. It's a movie i remember loving as a kid, because it really scared the crap out of me. Watching it again...( read more),i still get shivers running down my back,it has bags of atmosphere and chills a plenty. The performances are all good from Patrick Wymark as the Judge to the sexy Linda Hayden, her constant disrobing could be another reason i remember it so vividly from childhood. This is a quality slice of 70s british horror that Hammer would have loved to have made.

Blood On Satans Claw is one of the best British horror films ever made..period! The costumes and sets are incredibly realistic to the time that is depicted, 17th century. The story about a bunch of kids in a English village, each become "possessed" by satan. All of them grow sma...( read more)ll hairy patches of Satans skin. There is a scene in an attic bedroom in the middle of the night that is truly horrifiying. It still manages too scare me. Linda Hayden is brilliant as Angel Blake the teenage ring leader of the satanic coven. Highly recommended to anyone who likes horror or just damn good filmmaking. Its a crime to not see this one.

'Blood On Satan's Claw' is the finest horror film produced in Britain in the '70's. See this for Linda Hayden's sexually charged performance as a Satan-loving teenager. The group-rape scene controlled by the ghastly eyes of Hayden is still shocking, even by today's standards.

    Quoted from IMDB....

Various body parts of an evil being (called "The Devil" by the locals, though we needn't take that too literally) begin turning up, occasionally found in places like a plow furrow, but most often through the transformation of body parts of the local people. These parts are then cut off either voluntarily (by those who become this "devil's" followers) or involuntarily (from those who don't). The aim is to re-assemble them and actually create the body of this being.

Set in a small English country town in the 17th Century a farmer unearths inhuman remains that are covered with fur. So he gets the judge of the town to view it, but the evidence has strangely disappeared. After the discovery about the skull and fuss about, weird and horrific occurrences start developing with the appearance of the devil's claw. Also some of the children of the village led by Angel are committing unspeakable terror and performing satanic rituals in a desecrated church in the woods.

The gorgeous girl in the orgy at the end who gets off and writhes in front of lucky Barry Andrews? The satanic seductress is Yvonne Paul, a glamour model who also appears in the 'Lust' segment of Tigon's 'The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins.'

She isn't credited in the cast.

Marc Wilkinson's spookily-beautiful music for the cult British movie from 1971, Blood on Satan's Claw, is for sale.

    http://www.moviegrooves.com/shop/bloodonsatansclawsoundtrack.htm

"Directed by Piers Haggard in 1971, Blood on Satan's Claw has slowly gathered a cult following for lots of reasons, it's beautifully shot and art directed, it stars The Devil, evil naked maidens, and of course the music accompanying all the horror is quite extraordinary. Written by Marc Wilkinson, former director of music for the National Theatre, this soundtrack takes its lead from "The Devil's Interval". Musical appearances from the Ondes Martenot (the earliest electronic instrument) and Cimbalom add to the overall spookiness of this recording."
