The film debut of American director David Orr, Blossom Time was made as a tribute to American playwright Tennessee Williams. Set in the playwright's hometown of Columbus, Mississppi, the tale focuses on the sad existence of Francis, a shy and dutiful young woman who has been toiling as her brothers' housekeeper since her parents died.
