A bizarre offering from the mind of David Lynch. I'm still not sure if any of the characters are completely sane. In fact, I could make a strong case that there was some serious drug use going on during the writing and filming of this one. Still, this is one of those rare "Wow...( read more)!" kind of movies. A ground-breaking thriller with iconic imagery. It's easy to see how Blue Velvet has become a cult classic.

*BONUS QUESTION: Consider the films Blue Velvet, Lust For Life and Reservoir Dogs. What do these three movies have in common?

The beginning scene when Kyle MacLachlan finds an ear was a real eye opener to me. At that point I?d never seen anything like it, I certainly hadn?t seen a David Lyinch film before, so Blue Velvet really did feed my passion for cinema. For that I shall always be grateful. What a ...( read more)fucked up film though eh!

Many consider this to be Lynch's true masterpiece and the cast is good, but it doesn't quite stand up to Eraserhead or Mulholland Dr. It's got the usual Lynch oddball mystery tone to it, plus Dennis Hopper's lunatic turn as Frank Booth, one of the most complex and threatening vil...( read more)lains in film history. With some additional fine tuning this movie could've been a classic, but who am I to tell David what he should or shouldn't do in a film? All I can say is "I'll fuck anything that moves!"

This film runs on a very flat level, meaning there never seems to be any elevated time of excitement, yet it somehow works. An enjoyable storyline with some great music and an unusual role for Dennis Hopper.

My history of Lynch movie watching has been radically mixed. I saw "The Lost Highway" in my adolescence and, though I couldn't decode any specific meaning in it, found it rather interesting. Then, in my twenties, I saw "Mulholland Drive" and was absolutely blown away. Since th...( read more)en, I've watched an assortment of the director's films in an attempt to gain a better understanding of where a piece like Mulholland Drive comes from. So far this journey has been a disappointing one. As though all his prior work has been mere training, a long warmup before emitting that one flash of brilliance. The director's "Dumbland" series being my next favorite (and that's not saying a hell of a lot). However, of all the disappointments that have lied in wait for me along this journey, none have quite compared to this. An utter celebration of the director's least appealing qualities.

I really love David Lynch's style and his films are always amazing. Blue Velvet is one of my favorite films. It encompasses everything that I love about the movies. It has a great feel, it's so glossy and perfectly twisted. I love everything from the characters to the attack on s...( read more)uburbia. It's like a twilight zone episode gone completely awry. It's a very bold film that isn't afraid to challenge normal behavior and make you feel uncomfortable at times. The stylization is like no other, the performances are just so dead on that it works.

The most disturbing movie I have ever seen. I have no idea how anyone would find this enjoyable...... It had well directing and acting..... but I still don't like the movie.
