wow. mix Aronofsky's 'The Fountain' with DDL's 'Last of the Mohicans' and call it a western. Juliette Lewis' vocals grate and are more suited to belting out PJ Harvey tunes (Strange Days) than Irish standards. enjoyable and visually impressive.

what made this movie worth viewing was the cgi imagery and cinematography, and the abundance of some fine actors. the final cgi sequence is like nothing ive seen before.

Sick visuals closest animation to a DMT trip. Acting is cheese at times but the buttons make up for it.

It's hard for me to rate this film. I hear tell that you have to have used mescaline to be able to understand this film. Not having ever done mescaline I couldn't say. I'll get back to you on that, but I thought it was strange as h*ll.

It started with the best intentions: Based on the Jean "Moebius" Giraud's very popular comic book and with the storyboard from Stan & Vince and a great cast... but thanks to Jan Kounen it became the worst movie ever! I wonder how I managed to see the whole movie...It has nothing to do with the comic book except the main character's name and nothing to do with a western either! So my advice is simple: Avoid that movie!

Apart from having to look at Juliette Lewis's fat hairy underwater bush and throwing up in my mouth over it, I found this film to be pretty interesting. It had a cool style to it that stepped away from traditional westerns. I would venture to say it was kinda cool. I thought the psychedelic CGI nonsense was a more of a gimmick than anything else, but it's interesting as I said. Worth a watch...

I have to preface by saying that I love Cassel, Madsen, and Eddie Izzard completely. However, Blueberry seems to miss the mark of what could have been a very good movie. The director is in love with atmospheric, metaphysical, sweeping, slow-motion imagery. Unfortunately when you do that for a solid hour of a two hour movie, it becomes pretentious and, sorry to say, boring. A different director or some hefty editing could have resurrected this to as high as 4 stars.

I was waiting to see a western. No one told me I should be under the influence of drugs to understand the movie. This movie gave me a new definition of "psychedelic mess".

It starts off okay, but the cg inner demon stuff and exceedingly erratic story became a bit much in the end.

not good. the only thing keeping it out of my worst movies list is the fact that all the lead roles are awesome actors

I thought this could be fun- I dug the European revisionist West in the movie Dust. This, however, was so bad, I couldn't finish watching it.

What an utter piece of shit. Can't believe that Jan Kounen got the money for this. Believe it or not the great "shootout" at the ending takes place in a drug induced world. And the movie ends with a full frontal crotch shot of Juliette Lewis. For having the balls to do that (pun intended) one star.

Ok, first of all, I don't much about shamanism, but I'm interested about it and that said, after seeing this movie, I'm even more interested about it.
Story of Blueberry is pretty simple, but works, though the real deal with this movie is in its shamanistic journey.
Visuals are Amazing, there's no doubt about that and they don't just seem pointless, it feels like there's a meaning to it.

An alternative western, 'Renegade' is a case of style over substance, but its style is quite intoxicating so that it doesn't matter so much. Essentially it uses elements of psychedelia as an alternative way of expressing the battling of inner demons and ulitmately, redemption. Visually I was very impressed with it and thus, I was able to like it, but don't watch this expecting action - its a spiritual journey into the inner self.

well... this movie is "freely" based on the comics with the same name... and... well.. if you are expecting this to be a comics to movie transcription, and are a fan of the comics.. don't see the movie. If you do.. keep in mind that the only thing they have in common is the name..
If your a David Lynch Fan (I am) and like weird movies.. well.. this is for you then.. an unusual western movie, yet.. a good movie

Odd marriage of cowboy western meets psychedelica in a twisting of two emblematic roots of the genres. Plot comes off abit blah but is as uncanny as Serenity (where western meets sci fi) but surpasses typical CGI standards for trying to graphically expressing what it's like to be drugged by the shamans. Watch it for the fx.

This is a film I can be inspired by, as an animator making my own 3D Animated Psychedelic Spaghetti Western I was blown away by how good the Peyote / dmt sequences were. Truly for the experienced this would trigger memories and for the others on the other side of the door this would be mystfying claustrophobic FXs.

The way the eagle passes the camera in the fly over begining is a gem and a sign of the brilliance to come throughout the Film. The CG FX Animators deserve Academy Awards, there are so many elements of the Hallucinations I could talk about but the best was the snake face/body of Mikey Mike.

Im so happy the editors kept this film the way it was released. My thanks go into the cyber network to the cast and crew.....
