During his recovery, Bill is tormented by violent nightmares and aggressive new impulses -- and his limb seems to have developed a malevolent will of its own, acting independently and lashing out beyond his control. He eventually discovers that an artist named Remo Lacey (Brad Dourif) -- whose work is influenced by the same nightmares -- is the recipient of the killer's other arm. Before long, the same donor's legs turn up on yet another man, who harbors the same violent mood swings... and the inevitable "reunion" culminates in a violent, gory finale. Written and directed by Eric Red (based on the novel Choice Cuts by Pierre Boileau & Thomas Narcejac), this is a stylish and tightly-paced film (the harrowing car chase is a definite nail-biter), but the ball is sadly dropped by a weak script that discards the twisted potential of its premise (is the donor arm influencing Chrushank's mind, or vice versa?), lapsing instead into standard slasher-think. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

Based on Maurice Renard's classic short story, "The Hands of Orlac," is good shocking and horrifying film I ever seen. It's horrifying in a Frankensteinian way - great gore effects. The underrated Jeff Fahey gives an strong performance. Brad Dourif gives an memorable small role as the artist, who finds sudden success with his paintings. Director Eric Red does his best work so far as a filmmaker here. I think there was some spectacular stunts in this thriller-horror movie, and many original ideas (especially when Fahey gets in a driving vehicle!), and it never really stops being exciting! - The final scenes are pretty gross, but generally I thought that the movie was good!

It's an updated "Les Mains d'Orlac" but is actually based on another French novel entitled "Et Mon Tout Est Un Homme" (from 1965), so the plot isn't exactly original. The same thing has been done at least a dozen times before. It's not a bad film though. Jeff Fahey may not be the most exciting of actors to watch but he really doesn't do too badly here at all. There are some quite nice gore scenes and, although it's not in any way scary, the story does stay interesting right up until the end. The only thing that drags it way down is that we all know that transplanted limbs do not really retain the personalities of their previous owners... or do they?
