Critic Reviews

  • Scott Weinberg, FEARnet

A one-timer all the way, and even then I'd only recommend it to the most ravenous and thorough of horror aficionados.

  • Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton, Dread Central

Book of Blood may very well turn out to be remembered as one of the few faithful Barker adaptations not executed by the author himself.

  • Lucius Gore, ESplatter

... a horror movie for adults.

  • Brad Miska, Bloody Disgusting

This is the story that is supposed to get you excited to see films like DREAD, THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, CANDYMAN and numerous of other forthcoming Clive Barker adaptations, instead it makes you want to cut yourself as a reminder to never sit through it ag

  • Anton Bitel, Eye for Film

the cinematic equivalent of a page-turner, worthy of more than a mere skim for those who like their horror on the dark side of macabre.

I liked this movie, I really did. It gave you that eerie feeling when you watched it. I wouldn't say it's the most "suspensful, non-stop scary, with blood in every scene" horror movie in the world, but it was somehow interesting. Interesting story.

An incredibly disappointing Clive Barker adaptation, this doesn't have an ounce of <i>Hellraiser</i> or <i>Dread</i>'s power. The most interesting aspect is the book-ended wraparound which does actually have some creepy moments - alas most of the film… More
