    SEEN IT
    REVIEW COMING SOON.
  • December 26, 2009
The sequel lives up to it's predecessor. Clever, funny, and action packed! I went with a friend who has never seen the first Boondock Saints & she enjoyed it as well, so it can stand on it's own if it has to (but, why do that really!?).
  • December 26, 2009
This sequel was good. I hope they make a third movie. I hope they don't wait another 10 years to make the third installment. The only thing I didn't like was the character played by Julie Benz. The third movie definetly shouldn't have any female roles in it.
  • December 24, 2009
Finally this peice was released!! Julie Benz's accent is somewhat inconsistent midwest/southern bell/with confused Jersey vowels, but minus this distraction- AWESOME. Worth 4 years of hype and the wait!

  • December 22, 2009
I loved this movie. I really hope they make another and don't make me wait 10 years for the next one. Classic lines. while it doesn't have the timing and feel of the first one and the comedy of William Defoe really made the first one a great movie. but still packed full of gr...( read more)eat action and good one liners. I just wish this movie had gotten a full release and press instead of the guerilla marketing and limited showings. I did make sure to see it twice and will probably pre-order the DVD

The Saints are back....and better than ever. An instant classic that stands right up to its original, being just as great if not better. It's packed with even more explosive action and frequent humor. A bullet-riddled, wickedly hilarious, hard-rocking, exhilarating and adrenaline...( read more)-pumping from start to finish. Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus have dazzling chemistry together, after all these years the boys don't fail to satisfy with these classic characters. Clifton Collins Jr. is outrageous. Billy Connolly is brilliant. Julie Benz is terrific. It's riveting, stylish, explosive and powerful. A sizzeling action-packed thriller that's almost too much fun for its own good. A thrilling and original sequel with great dialogue, sharp humor, great characters and a awsome story that will sure to entertain anyone who loved the first film. It's wild, exciting fire-power entertainment

Flannery and Reedus needed to a new make-up crew to make them look a little more like real people and less than mannequins, but who was really watching their faces with all the violence and craziness. Greatly entertaining for a sequel. It was good to see the boys back in action.

I kind-of enjoyed the first movie. I can see the appeal and it is a fun watch but I'm not really a part of the fandom, but, a friend wanted to go see the sequel and who am I to turn down seein' a flick, even if it's one I have very vague interest in.

Willem DaFoe is my favorite ...( read more)thing about the first movie.

I watched this entire movie absolutely CERTAIN that Julie Benz's character was actually post-op Willem DaFoe. The movie would have been 10x better than how the character actually ends the movie on the fishing dock n' all that. C'mon. If I hadn't had the she's-a-dude theory there to keep me entertained I don't think I would've dug it as much, and I didn't dig it too much in the first place.

Someone put it to me once that Boondock Saints and Troy Duffy are Tarantino Lite and I guess that's sort of true ... only without the cool cultural references to blaxploitation flicks I feel cool for seeing, you know.

More Fun with Guns and God!

Story: The story is very similar to the first movie. In fact, I'm going to say that this is the Evil Dead 2 of the series in that it borders on being a remake of the first movie with a higher budget, better special effects, larger cast, etc. This...( read more) isn't a bad thing, we're not in Ghostbusters 2 territory. In many ways, they fixed some problems I had with the first movie, specifically the fact that [SEMI-SPOILER ALERT] the cops in the first movie weren't really penalized for assisting the Saints. Whether I agree with the morality of what they were doing or not, there needed to be a price for breaking the law and this time there was a price. The script doesn't really address the morality of what the Saints are doing. It's very much saying, ?These are the good guys, like them or leave them.? It's even more cut and dry than the first movie. In fact, the only character who questions the morality of the Saints is the Roman who, for the record, is the big bad in this movie. C

Acting: Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus are Connor and Murphy. The instant they appeared on camera, they were in character. I applaud. Billy Connolly is one the most versatile actors of our day and plays Il Duce completely different than Fido or Father Joseph Crissman or any of the other characters he's played in his extensive career, and he brings the goods this time too, adding an extra layer to the dark, quiet man of mystery that he played in the first movie. Clifton Collins Jr. has some of the funniest moments in this movie and they all work. Now... about Julie Benz... she's hot, which she was supposed to be, and she has great lines, but I didn't like her accent in this movie. I wish she would have done the lines normally, I think it would have been a stronger performance. I was glad to see David Della Rocco appear in a way that maintained the fact that [SPOILER... IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FIRST ONE YET, IN WHICH CASE I MUST ASK WHY YOU'RE READING THIS?] he's dead, and again his lines are some of the most quotable in the movie. B

Visuals: The visuals are a lot of fun in this movie. Some of the best parts are when we get to see how the Saints imagine one of their raids going down (in a smooth, Matrix style take down where their hairs never gets messed up) versus reality (it hits the fan). Gun aficionados will love the weaponry that gets brought to the table. Did I already mention that Julie Benz was hot? B

Direction: The mood remains fairly light hearted up until the end of the movie, like the first one. I have to say that if Troy Duffy really was the jerk that Overnight made him out to be, I really don't think that as many cast members from the first movie would have returned as they did, because this was never destined to be a huge payday. The only reason they could have possibly come back was because they had fun making the first one and wanted to meet up with those guys again. Now, Troy Duffy won't be completely vindicated in my eyes until he makes a different movie that's not a remake of the first Boondock Saints, which oddly may be the third in this series as the ending of this one teased ?sequel? very hard. Hey, Army of Darkness was way different from Evil Deads 1 and 2, but Sam Raimi also made other movies in between those ones, so we'll see what happens. B

Overall: This movie isn't going to win any major awards. The critics have certainly hate it, the kindest review I've seen being A.O. Scott inventing a new category of ?see it drunk.? The story is the weakest link in this chain, but fans of the first movie will love this movie. I think you should watch it, but make sure to watch the first one before you see this one. And watch out for the return of the cat. B

A highly enjoyable sequel that surpasses the first on many levels.

I can't wait to see this as it's about time they made a sequel to The Boondock Saints!!!
  • December 4, 2009
Superior to the original, Director Troy Duffy takes advantage of casting Julie Benz as a 10 times more intense Clarice Starling-esque Ball-Busting FBI Agent in Christian Louboutin Spiked Heels & seamed stockings, form fitting dresses, and sub-compact satin finished 1911...( read more)A1 pattern single action pistol carried in a custom front abdominal holster. Duffy caressingly films her, lovingly showcased in tight close ups, slow-motion glamor shots, and fabulous classy outfits. (It's obvious he has just as big a crush on her as I have had since her "Buffy" days, Benz just gets better looking as she matures, as does her acting skills; the dream sequence of her as a leather cowgirl shootist is worth the price of admission alone). The film serves primarily as an action vehicle update leading to a possible 3rd segment, and the action is filmed in the Peckinpah/John Woo/Matrix stylized vein, pleasing to the eye ballet choreographed violence presented as no less than performance art. Firearms enthusiasts will lean forward noting all the various weapons and carry methods presented (including the SFX longslide Desert Eagle twins prominently displayed). Replacing Willem Dafoe's repellent transvestism with Julie Benz's alluring beauty is the best single improvement over the original film. Clifton Collins overly stereotypical "Mexican" character is more questionable, serving as the "Stephen Fetchit" to the Twins equally stereotypical hard-drinking psychotic Irishmen. Time shifting story elements advance the context of the plot. Action packed with little drag, rampant smoking and drinking, atmospheric alternate reality a'la "The Warriors", and an interesting performance by Peter Fonda reminiscent of Brando in the "Godfather" series, Boondock Saints II, gets the job done for fans of the "Shoot-em-up" genre of macho action films with a noir-ish edge. Grab the popcorn and enjoy.

I can't say its better than the first one because not much is. but this sequel did not dissapoint in the least. awesome 'godfather part 2'-esque back story on their father and why all this chaos is happening around them now. clifton collins jr was a good add to the movie and i...( read more) really enjoyed his character interacting with the brothers. if you like the first one, then fuck what the critics say, cuz they panned that one too. too much profanity and bloodshed for them. see this film

After a slow opening, this film falls right into the same black comedy/action mode as the first. Julie Benz makes a great addition to the cast. The witty/obsene dialog isn't for children, but has some lines that I'm sure I will be quoting many times in the future. The sequel to the cult hit Boondock Saints does not disappoint. If your a fan of the original then you should enjoy this as well. The entire cast from the original are back for this. Plus nice additions of Clifton Collins, Julie Benz, Peter Fonda, Judd Nelson and Robb Wells. You ...( read more)can tell this movie had a bigger budget than the original. But the director kept the style much the same. You get the same over the top action, gun fights, violence, cussing and crazy characters. The story itself is eight years later from the original. The MacManus brothers and father are living in Ireland when they learn a priest is murdered in a church in their old town of Boston. This of course sends them back to exact revenge. The story is simple and easy to follow. Many fans of the original will understand the humour and jokes relating to first film. I will admit I still prefer the original movie over this sequel. But I still enjoyed it. And the way they ended this movie can easily lead to a third movie to be made. A must see for fans of the original.

A lifeless and aesthetically hollow parade of violence. If Sam Peckinpah had been retarded he might have directed movies like Troy Duffy
