Critic Reviews

  • R. L. Shaffer, IGN DVD

Borderland teeters between a torture film and a spiritual thriller, but it also plays around with both genres in very intriguing ways.

  • David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews

...one can't help but admire any film that features a villain with a penchant for saying things like "I'll decorate my bedroom wall with your skin"...

  • Steve Biodrowski, ESplatter

Borderland takes this libertarian view of paradise (no law, no government, just rich people doing what they want) and turns it on its head in a particularly brutal and ugly way, without expressing a political point of view in a heavy-handed way.

  • Brian Tallerico, The Deadbolt

What starts as another entry in the "been there, gored that" series of films we've endured lately ends up proving that there might be life in the gore genre yet, down Mexico way.

  • Luke Y. Thompson, L.A. Weekly

...ultimately descends into a brutal orgy of torture and mutilation that's harrowing to watch, because it's played completely real.

It is difficult to rate this movie. It is billed as a horror film and based upon true life events. The watered down blend comes up lacking something in both genres. The premise is based upon the real life Santiera practitioners in Mexico. Torture is a staple in their rituals as… More

Another pointless tortured American tourists movie. This one doesn't even try to scare. Have to endure seventy minutes of drivel only to discover that they're gonna have the main baddie naked but NOT give a good butt or dangler shot? Screw that. There weren't even any… More
