Boy Kills World

Despite the enthusiasm it generates, “Boys Kills World” is – now – pure style over substance. [Full review in Spanish]

Have I grown jaded? Maybe so. But it could be, too, that Boy Kills World suffers from the wrong kind of excess, not just in its approach to action but in the design of the plot, which piles one gimmick on top of another.

While I liked a few of the goofier idiosyncratic touches...there weren’t enough of them to keep me fully engaged.

It's brash. Violent. Fun.

It’s not a complete package but it’s fresher than much of what’s out there today and is difficult to dismiss even if it sometimes feels like a graphic novel married to a video game.

The ultraviolent Boy Kills World hits you over the head with gimmicks.

If Boy Kills World makes one fatal flaw, it is hiding its light under a bushel and outfitting the Boy in a red vest thus covering the Skarsgård family abs.

The action is incredibly fast and a lot of CGI. Good stunt work, but trick editing that I'm less sympathetic to.

Star Skarsgard has the abs and the moves to sell the stunts – but Boy Kills World’s jokes just don't work and the incessant voice-over from Bob's Burgers' H. Jon Benjamin quickly becomes an irritation.
