Tissue time...worth seeing. Well I would guess to be honest maybe worth seeing more to woman than men. It is about making it, and dealing with what life can throw you as a female. I enjoyed this movie.
There just isn't enough girl buddy movies out there. This movie shows how friends can become like family. Drew Barrymore has never been more adorable. A real gem of a film.
A touching film that has a talented cast, good music and a heartfelt script that beautifully captures the bonds of friendship. Mary-Louise Parker gives a terrific performance in this movie.
his road/buddy movie explores the special relationships that can develop among women. Little emotionally friendship story on the road, but sadly at the end.
GREAT ONE here folks... girl power but something for everyone. These are definately the type of chick flicks that I like. Warm, sensative, and will bring the tears out for the ladies... I of course never cry !! A great all around movie, very touching and a wonderful journay of friendship.
i like this movie because its not one of those typical road trip movies. it has a nice story and the characters were well-developed and well-acted. the soundtrack is also worth listening AND buying. ^-^
Jane is a night club singer, out of work. Robin is a quirky real estate agent looking for a ride-share to accompany her to California. Her advertisement is answered by Jane, who at first was uncertain about her. A stop in Pittsburgh picks up a third,...
a most moving movie three people just seem to decide to leave one for sure in a bad relationship and the all seem to end up living together and one has Aids and they share a home and their hearts
a very heartfelt film with endearing characters, excellent acting, and an extremely touching story-line. i would recommend this movie for a mother-daughter bonding night!
i've only watched the half (and a bit more) of it.. can't stand it..altho the idea is really cool, esp for women, but it's really plain n boring.. maybe is should give it another try.. maybe...
I loved this film - which is probably a bit sad in itself but there you go. Three women with totally different backgrounds and ways of life each have their reasons to escape and do it together. In spite of their differences they bond like probably no other friendship would.
You know I think the German title for this movie is far more apt than the English original. Kaffee, Milch und Zucker.... it translates as Coffee, Milk and Sugar. Three totally different things, which thrown together, make a perfect match.
The adage 'feminist road movie' is probably overused in description of this picture, but it is perfectly apt.
Three wildly contrasting young women set out on the road after one party's boyfriend becomes violent. They incapacitate him, but a few days into the journey, he is reported dead. The trio flee in panic, and in the process get into various situations that require them to pull together despite differences.
Boys On The Side is well acted, the leads are pretty convincing in their roles as modern lesbian, bookish housewife and, well, tart, and the script does allow for some top comedy moments (Barrymore reads 'morte' - "Who's Morty?", and various sight gags), all of which keep the tone mature and affecting.
Unfortunately it does suffer from the typical Hollywood rot setting in about fifty minutes in, in which the rest of the yarn becomes painfully predictable. Relationships are broken, there's a handsome stud, disease/disfigurement, lessons are learned, yadda, yadda, yadda. Oh, and there's some cast singing too. I can be subjective about chick flicks, and this is certainly better than most. But when the plot more or less gives up in defeat after some sparkling opening scenes, they're never going to command more respect than from the already intended audience. Worthwhile.
This superb movie shows the audience the true bonding of female friendship in a movie with a whole lot of twists and turns in it it plays out like an old Hollwood Melodrama and lets you fall in love with the movies characters starring the ever brilliant Drew Barrymore
