The effects at times were good, at other times too strange. They do move along quickly to pack a lot of the novel's story into the run time. Still, the movie feels too long toward the end. Wow, Oldman does go through so many amazing makeup transformations. I agree with most o...( read more)f my friends here that the story and other performances are not great. But I did enjoy watching this movie, which is obviously an exercise by Coppola to just have fun making an old fashioned, stylish pic with all the tricks of the trade. It is surrealist and funny and at times can make you squirm, but it is not what could be called a horror film with straightforward frights.

Visually astonishing film from Franics Ford Coppola contains some of the best performances you'll ever see (Oldman as Dracula) alongside some of the very worst (Keanu Reeves' lengendarily embarrassing Jonathan Harker).

Francis For Coppola really is a visionary! All of his movies are beautiful. I find it funny tho that this is callled "Bram Stokers" Dracula b/c the whole Mina loves Dracula bit never even happed in Stokers novel. But you know what, I love it this way. It's how stoker should have ...( read more)written the Novel. I did have a problem with keanu Reeves tho...If my feance talked and acted as girly as he does in this movie, I'd want someone else too! I also Had a problem with how they made dracula look when he is in wolf form...He just look rediculus not even scarry! I love Gary Oldman tho HE WAS PERFECT! I think He might be the best Dracula sense Laugosi. I also HATED LUCY! She is not suppose to be that slutty, It was once again kinda rediculus. But over all I love this movie and how...mostly...true it stays to the Novel wich i Adore! This really is the most Beautiful Horror movie ever made!

This gets 3stars purely for the look alone, its goth, dark and sexy. The acting is dodgy to say the least, Oldman is good and is pretty much the best thing in the film but the cheese factor is high and we all know of Reeves accent. The film is very faithful to the story its just ...( read more)got a case of bad casting but the design and look is excellent with use of old traditional methods for the effects. Lovely to look at for sure.

The best parts of this movie were the wonderful score and the stylistic/special effects elements. It wasn't particularly well-cast or well-acted except for possibly Gary Oldman as the eponymous Dracula. He's always been a good character actor though.

I'm planning on reading the book, but i did happen to read another book called Bloodline (the author's name escapes me) but the book was like a continue or sequel to Dracula. I find this movie pretty awesome!

"We are dealing with forces beyond all human experience, and enormous power. So guard her well. Otherwise, your precious Lucy will become a bitch of the Devil! A Whore of Darkness!"

The acting is way over the top; whether or not that's a good thing. It's hard for me to say if I enjoyed this movie or not; but it was an experience.

"And we may still save her precious soul. But - not on an empty stomach!"
