Bronco Bullfrog
Sam Shepard plays Irish prison escapee Jo Bronco Bullfrog. Hiding out in a seamy section of London's East End, Bullfrog befriends a gang of teenagers. Looking for kicks, the kids team up with Bullfrog, but his notion of excitement proves too much for them. Some good scenes, backed by excellent location photography, do not mitigate some of the more foolish aspects of the storyline. Completed in 1970, Bronco Bullfrog was withheld from general release for nearly two years. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Most strikingly, and unlike other better-known realist films of the time, there's nothing precious about its attitude to the working class: the spirit of its actors runs right through it."
‑ Dave Calhoun, Time Out
"In the way it imports neo-realism techniques to the depiction of working-class London, as well as an evocation of a part of the capital that the 2012 Olympics has helped to disappear, it's a fascinating timepiece."
‑ Sukhdev Sandhu, Daily Telegraph
"Inevitably, there is something a little uncertain about it sometimes, but the principals, Del Walker and Anne Gooding, are winningly real, there is freshness and life and as a historical record it's pure gold."
‑ Peter Bradshaw, Guardian
"Although rough around the edges and containing some weak supporting performances, the depiction of the restless, day-to-day existence of ordinary youngsters was arguably the most authentic at the time."
‑ , Radio Times
