This set is one of the many that became the stuff of legend, and it shows a young and optimistic world-beating Boss, skinny as a rail, turning his rock and roll revival into its very own revolution. The sound quality is astounding - so good that fans demanded an audio-only recording on CD, and got it. The set suffers a bit from the inclusion of some of his more forgettable early material (long forgotten tracks from his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, New Jersey like Spirit in the Night are performed), but barn-burning Rosallita, the epic Jungleland and the closing Detroit Medley are all performances so full of joy that its hard not to love it. This film, thirty years late, shows what millions of fans already knew: Bruce Springsteen was here to stay.
