I laughed so hard I was crying a couple times. It was pretty gross though. Some parts were just lame, and it was kinda short. I enjoyed it for the most part though.

A lot better than what peopl have given it credit for. Says A LOT about American Culture, especially their views on homosexuality and especially how far parents with babies would go to get their babies in a page very funny. No wonder two of Cohen's films have had some locations i...( read more)n the US as they seem so gulable.

It's hard to watch this movie without reading some sort of social commentary into it, and initially, it get's in the way of the comedy. I found myself more occupied with what I thought Sacha Baron Cohen thinks about his "marks", than I was with the jokes. The truth is, this isn...( read more)'t news. It's not a documentary (is it even a mocumentary?). As with Borat, it seems a lot of people are having a hard time getting past the "realness" of the situations. If the people that Bruno interacts with think that Bruno is a real guy, does that make it funnier than if they are all just actors? I think this movie is best enjoyed with all that baggage stripped away. What you're left with is old fashioned, uncomfortable situations, pie-in-the-face comedy. It's not the funniest movie of the year, but come on..."A bear ate all my clothes, except for this condom." That's really funny.

There are two things Borat fans should know before seeing Brüno: there are less vignettes and everything feels twice as staged.

With Borat, everything felt like an actual documentary, not far from Michael Moore's antics if we consider h...( read more)e is a character making real people uncomfortable. Borat's thin, soft plot line (reporter travels to America, falls in love with Pam Anderson, looks for her, finds love with local prostitute) never got in the way of the satire and the rawness. Well, with Brüno we have a stronger try to actually develop a major plot line, resulting on a weaker story and less sense of reality. The brilliance and intelligence of Baron Cohen (a Cambridge graduate) are shadowed by his own extravagance and over-the-top character and he loses the fight against his own Brüno.

Still, there are unforgettable, memorable, classic scenes like the final Straight Dave fight (outrageous, embarrassing, disgusting... and I'm, of course, talking about the redneck audience's reaction) or Paula Abdul or the whole Baby OJ saga (including future child molesters posing as stage parents saying anything to get their kids a job in showbiz), those are more than enough to balance Brüno's lack of reality with rough comedy, just the way we like it.

Bruno mostly offended people because he was violating their private space with his crass sexual overtness. People don't like yucky sexual things thrust in their face. He had little sense that he was causing offense. There weren't any Bruno encounters with the real Gay Community, ...( read more)I betcha they'd react the same way. It was a bit hard to tell what reactions were genuine and what were staged. Most of the episodes went on too long. My favourite were the scenes with Baby O.J., especially when they got their luggage at the airport. The biggest fools were the Hollywood parents who would allow their kids to do anything for stardom. I suspect when he visited Palestine and Israel, things got quite dangerous for real. I think this movie was made too soon after Borat, so it lost a lot of its shock value. The fight with Straight Dave was funny, especially how the crowd reacted when things turned. The song at the end with all the British singers was great. Be sure to watch all the deleted scenes on the DVD for more hilarity.

Unfortunately by far not as funny as Borat since everything just didn't feel "real" (I don't care it's not real, it's not as funny). Actually not as funny at all. Everything seemed (and was obviously) so "fake" and therefore didn't have any fun stuff like Borat did.

    Stupid. Not worth the time

It just kills me how Borat gets all the praise while this, not much. How could the stupid critics say it's offensive and rude when Borat is 100x more that? Borat was even disgusting, this film wasn't at all. It didn't rely on toilet to make us laugh (unlike Borat).

Anyways, I la...( read more)ughed so hard throughout it. Definitely one of the best film to come out this year. Also one of the best comedy film in a long time. What made this film so good is that most of it was real. And the reactions of the people were priceless. Borat, on the other hand, had a lot of staged stuff.
