Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Hayes shows a deft touch with both cartoony slapstick and character-based comedy and manages to create moments of real poignancy in between."
‑ Dan Via, Washington Post
"Hollywood monstrosities all, and boy are they scary!"
‑ Nick Rutigliano, Village Voice
"The film is only sporadically funny, and it's frequently in poor taste, but it's got energy to spare, and Gyllenhaal's performance gives it a soul."
‑ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide
"O personagem-título não é apenas sem graça, mas também chato."
‑ Pablo Villaca, Cinema em Cena
"Calling the picture an insult to the immune deficiency syndrome is inappropriate; however, calling the movie an act of pure idiocy is bordering generosity."
‑ David Keyes, Cinemaphile.org
"Seldom has a more misguided movie escaped from a major studio than Touchstone's Bubble Boy."
‑ Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter
"After enduring only a few minutes of this shrill debacle, you'll feel more trapped in the theater than Jimmy is by his bubble."
‑ Bruce Fretts, Entertainment Weekly
"Bubble Boy is a strange, bizarre, twisted romantic comedy."
‑ Rebecca Murray, About.com
"(Bubble Boy) squanders its strongest moments but at least has the courage to attempt strong moments."
‑ Walter Chaw, Film Freak Central
"A garish, tawdry film, a mean-spirited trainwreck with virtually no redeeming qualities."
‑ Eric D. Snider, EricDSnider.com
"This amazingly tasteless, gross-out comedy is full of cruel jokes, stupid characters, schmaltzy sentimentality and situations that make no sense."
‑ Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune
"Certainly the meanest-spirited film ever associated with the Disney hallmark."
‑ Stephen Hunter, Washington Post
"...the most anti-human movie to surface since Showgirls."
‑ Philip Martin, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
"Despite what his mother taught him, despite the evil and injustice he encounters in the world, little Jimmy Livingston is kind and understanding and tolerant of others. That's the moral."
‑ Shirley Sealy, Film Journal International
"The road trip aspect of Bubble Boy provides fodder for most of the jokes, which are requisitely crude and tactless and only occasionally amusing."
‑ Tim Cogshell, Boxoffice Magazine
