I didn't know who directed this movie while I was watching it, and throughout it I couldn't help but notice how truly masterful the direction is. The multiple scenes in one screen, the different angles of the same object, the stationary camera, the slow zoom in/zoom out - it take...( read more)s a director with a point of view in cinema to give you such a film - and I find out it's Vincent Gallo's first attempt in direction ever. His performance is of course stellar (if he didn't act excellently under his own direction, it would just be funny), and he even managed to get Christina Ricci to act well.

The characters are unreal, but you can fully believe in them by the end. Here's a pariah who is plotting his revenge against the man responsible for his imprisonment, and yet is still consciously aware of how deeply he needs his parents' approval, and so he kidnaps a simple-minded girl to pass her off as his wife to them. But he doesn't realize that even though he needs her help, she needs his even more.

A story of cathartic restitution - a movie made with nothing more than a few great performances, a diner, a house, a bowling alley, and a fistful of dollars.

Vincent Gallo at his very best, this is his masterpiece. His acting and direction are uniquely brilliant as our the excellent cameos and performances throughout. Unfortunately this film still resides in the cult status wilderness, which is very unfair.

Quite slow moving at times, but a very unique and original storyline with a lot of character. I am very impressed with the performance from Vincent Gallo in this film, who incidentally Directed and wrote this too. Christina Ricci was also great in this film.

Intriguing and enjoyable, a great Indie Flick.

I believe John Frusciante when he says that this movie expresses what he is trying to articulate in his music. Genius!

This is a masterpiece definitely. Personality of Vincent Gallo, who plays odd and good-looking guy in the movie, is very ridiculous. It was funny when I first watched him running around the town to piss.
