sesso, droga, violenza, ricchi viziati e con pessimi genitori, hollywood. Non male comunque, e bravissimo Michael Pitt!
  • November 19, 2009
When I first viewed this film, I hated it. I thought it was offensive, nasty and unnecessary. I was compelled to watch it again, mainly because I've developed a big liking for Michael Pitt, and I'm very glad that I did. Despite the extremely cinematic presentation of the characte...( read more)rs and their dilemmas, there is certainly a tone of brutal honesty here that is scarcely matched. The performances are all magnificent and sensitive. Michael Pitt, in a charismatic and unsettling supporting role, stands out with his manic energy and uniquely intriguing acting style.

This is Larry Clark's best film, not Kids! It?s still pretty disturbing though and it?s been rightfully said, ?This isn?t realism, it?s exploitation?

It is so dark and troubling. This film is worth a viewing by every parent of teenage children. It is not an easy movie to stomach as it is filled with heavy handed youth doom, addled by drugs and alcohol and sex. This gem is based on the novel by Jim Schutze "Bully: A True Story of...( read more) High School Revenge.

This movie is not for those that have a "PC" view of life. But for those of us that ACTUALLY remember how stupid we and people in general were in High School, this film is a jarring reminder. We all knew these people... people that wouldnt think twice about a murder. Larry Clark ...( read more)captures the stupidity of that time in your life and all the screwed up things you did, maybe not in this extreme of a case but still close to home. And the fact that this movie stays very close to the true story of Bobby Kent's murder, makes it all the more frightening and poignant.

There was a few things that initially drew me to this film. The first being my on going interest in anything related to Michael Pitt. He's one of those actors that has so much going for him. He is unbelievably talented but every film I see him in, it just never really lives up. T...( read more)his film is just another example.
His performance was brief as he isn't a major character, which I wasn't really expecting. However, his talent is clearly visible. His chemistry with the other actors is also very good and he plays the young guy really well. His character gives the impression that he's not really that intelligent and doesn't seem to be going anywhere with his life. By the end of the film, your impression of his character has definatly changed. He proves he's capable of more than people think. It's just a shame it's not really a positive thing that comes out of it.
The star of the film however, has to be Brad Renfro. Who sadly died a couple of years ago. His death was slightly over shadowed by that of Heath Ledger, but Renfro's death was just as tragic and such a waste of talent. His character is essentially the one the events transpire around. It is he who has been abused by his friend for many years. And he who is convinced by his girlfriend that it's time someone put a stop to it. In the beginning he's shown to be quite a weak person who just won't stand up for himself. You'd expect this to switch by the end of the film, but it doesn't. He is just shown to be a weak person who went along with a group of so called friends. He was their reason for doing what they did.
It's not a murder I was aware of before watching the film, probably because i'm not American. It's a tragic story that really challenges you. On one hand, these kids committed a horrible crime. But on the other they were constantly tormented by this boy. It's hard to justify what they did but the film also makes you understand why they did it, even if you don't agree with it in the end.

Ok before I get into my rant I will mention the things that were good about this movie. Personally I think Nick Stahl did the best job out of the lot of them. The story itself was interesting, and the ending was good. There werent any real twists or anything but it was interestin...( read more)g to watch. It was acted well in the sense that all the actors seemed to genuinely feel the emotions they portrayed - not just an actor pretending.

Now for my rant. There was far too much unnessisary partial & full frontal nudity. I understand that perhaps this makes it seem more real, but honestly do we really need to see a girl sitting on a toilet - naked - take a pregnancy test, wipe herself, then walk around (revealing everything)? And the same girl is later seen talking on the phone while naked. And a couple has a chat - while wrapped in each others arms naked. Why do we need to see that? Cant they be wearing clothes? I was surprised too that there actually is a moment that Brad Renfro is kissing/sucking a females nipple. Im sorry thats a bit much dont you think? And now, I predict that some people would say to me, "why are you so against it in this movie, when the film shortbus had so much more and you were okay with that?" well that is because that movie is about sex, and the sex and nudity expressed more to the audience about the characters. Unlike in this film where it is about murder, and the nudity was not needed, and in many cases, as formentioned, unnessicary. So yes, although the story was rather interesting, a majority of the nudity was rather uncalled for in my book.

I did see a thing on TV about this true story. But I didnt realize it untill i started watching the move. What a bunch of brats. These kids deserve there punishments. Good movie though.

  • February 11, 2009
For the R rated version fuck censorship, because of it, we probably missed out on some sweet rape scenes in this movie. Anyways if anything this movie proves that kids are stupid, lazy and above all stupid. And why isn't Leo Fitzpatrick famous? I want him to be in Clint Eastwood'...( read more)s next movie, the next Indiana Jones, I want his face printed on bed sheets, adhesive bandages, toothbrushes, and I want him to be digitally inserted into every copy of Blade II on DVD. Movies based on true stories are always more intense to watch. This might've been on lifetime if it didn't have so much bushy vag and sexual conduct. The true fact that you are more likely to get killed by someone you know rather than a stranger, makes this movie eerie.

man this is a very violent and emotionally disruptive movie.

    another excellent true story
  • December 26, 2008
Bravo! This film was made and written very well. With the violence, horror, and even more reality as it shows through. With the nudity being a contraversy turn for the story, it certainly shows what being convicted through murder can send these teenagers straight to hell.
  • December 14, 2008
This movie is brilliant! Larry Clark did a great job! This is one of the only movies that engulf you in the plot and make you feel the same fear of being "caught" as the other characters felt after the murder.
  • November 17, 2008
Shows how stupid people are when it comes to commiting crimes.
    Very disturbing movie though.
  • November 10, 2008
If you're going to murder someone, don't tell all your friends you did it and expect not to get caught. Say it with me now: "DUH!"
  • October 30, 2008
