Have lots of mistakes for a movie. But still the most interesting political movie for me.I didnt liked "Milk" that much because there were too much politics that bore me (and lots of gay scenes). But "Bulworth attract me because of its oscar nomination script.Other than Warren Beat...( read more)ty's directing is not that great. His acting was very good. But ? espeically gave this rate for the script. And Oliver Platt's acting. And did you noticed,in the cast place on flixster there isnt Warren Batty's name.

A fantastic performance from Warren Beatty in this tiular role - as well as solid direction - of this sharp and funny political satire, ably supported by a fine supporting cast, including Halle Berry, Oliver Platt and Don Cheadle. One of the better films of 1998.

Great idea - politician has a nervous breakdown and starts telling the truth, which makes him popular with the voters and unpopular with everyone else. Sadly they try too hard, chuck in waaay too many subplots (him becoming "black" never really works) and push it until it collaps...( read more)es in on itself and at the end it fizzles out where there should be a big bang. Platt is completely brilliant though. Man Of The Year with Robin Williams did a better job.

Very powerful and funny as well.

Two points that are a true testament to the arrogance of Warren Beatty:

    1. He thought dressing like a "gangsta" and rapping about liberal politics for two hours would thrill moviegoers.

    2. He thought it would turn moviegoers into Democrats.

I guess he really is "so vain" after...( read more) all.

This movie is SHEER brilliance! I should watch this again soon after I watch the other 1,000 or so movies on my must see list.

I didn't really connect with it
  • December 24, 2008
Totally confusing and too much work to watch.
  • December 17, 2008
You have to see it, to get. There is serious political satire here and for what it's worth, that aspect works.
  • December 7, 2008
God, the poster looks way out.

What a thrilling...bore...Ha,it could've been so much better. The ludicrous policy of the constitutional personas in and out of the socialite isn't Beatty's forte.Come to think of it he strides his way alongside those people he attempts to mock and he marginally declines to denude...( read more) them.Stripping your glove doesn't make you Rita Haywarth...

It isn't perfect but it is worth a watch.

    Didn't really interest me.
  • August 30, 2008
It's been a long time since I've seen this, but I do remember that I enjoyed it. My only criticism is that it is one of many films Mr. Beatty both directed and starred in that I think would have been better if he'd stayed behind the lens. He is a much better director.

Warren Beatty and Halle Berry - I loved this movie.
  • August 1, 2008
Big Director Big Actor Great Story Big thinking
  • July 23, 2008
NT SO FUNNY AS SOME FRIENDS TOLD ME....
WARREN BEATTY PLAYS VERY NICE BUT THAT NOT ALL TO RATE IT ABOVE 4 STARS..
  • July 16, 2008
Awkward. Not really funny, totally unsubtle and the idea of Warren Beatty rapping is distracting outlandish. I'm pretty sure he only made this movie to hook up with Halle Berry.

The most funniest film about politics in some time. A great cast and outrageous story that will offend some and make others laugh with delight. Whether you are into politics or not, this movie will make you laugh and (most of all) think. A must see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Warren Beatty indeed is a legend. A fine, charismatic actor who turned to the other side of the camera to create a few acclaimed pictures, like "Reds" or produce "Bugsy" which consists one of the best dialogue ever put on screen. "Bulworth", his fourth and last feature is sharply...( read more)-written, hilariously funny, intensly vulgar political satire that can easily concur with the finest achievements in the field, such wonderful titles like "Wag the Dog" or even "Network".

I'm sure that many of us would like to turn on TV someday and see some policitian (or a president, if you live in US or Poland) that snaps and starts to talk how things really are behind the curtain of banana smile and candy talk about integrity, fidelity and honesty, getting shit-faced, speaking as if he experienced a sudden revelation of what a fruad he's been all this time and searching redemption by telling the truth. Of course, bringing it back to reality it sounds like a nonsense for it's as unlikely as the chance that aliens from outer space will land on my garden tonight but the oppurtunity to see what can happen in a case like this is enough to make a good comedy, and Beatty couldn't hit better here.

"Bulworth" is a entertaining commentary on politicial and cultural chaos, and even if most of it isn't any news it's still a big laugh to see a guy in a fancy suit turning into raper, rhyming to the beat of his crazy-pounding heart. Hats off!

I really should start watching some of my older movies again...
  • March 14, 2008
Warren Beatty was pretty good in this movie that satires the political processes.
  • February 23, 2008
Warren Beatty rapping is the only reason this gets 3 stars from me.
  • February 4, 2008
warren beatty tries to be hip and cool in america, as a politician gone bonkers, great satire and politics film, as we follow his charactor on one night, with black people, trying to be hip, and more inportantly telling the truth, great rapping from beatty, if you can believe that
  • January 12, 2008
A candidate telling the truth, Hmmm he must be crazy? Lol Warren Beatty pulls off being funny in this flick.
  • October 23, 2007
There are a lot of funny and true moments in this film. The supporting cast is great in this film. I really like how the film ends.

Tired and disillusioned Congressional candidate, Jay Bulworth (Beatty), subjects himself to sleep deprevation which in turn leads him to display unusual behaviour in public. Bizzarely, the public respond warmly to his more unorthodox opinions and he finds a new lease of life, ai...( read more)ded in no small way by the beautiful Nina (Berry), but giving severe headaches to his personal assistant, Dennis Murphy (Platt). But the invigoration in his political career means that he must cancel what he calls the 'weekend scouting mission' and unknown to those around him, Bulworth is in a race against time to avoid political suicide.

Where "Primary Colors" fails, "Bulworth" hits the mark with it's outrageous satricial outlook on US politics. Senator Bulworth rounds on those who have lined his pockets for years such as the movie industry and insurance companies and speaks up the cause of the common man, and the black minority in particular. It's hardly subtle but when it's this funny, it has no need to be.

Beatty takes much of the credit, naturally. Not the most prolific actor, his performance is near-flawless and utterly convincing. But the casting is spot on throughout. Berry makes her big breathrough as the love interest (and she went on to thank Warren Beatty in her Oscar acceptance speech this year), Oliver Platt is in wonderful form as the conservative PA, Jack Warden and Paul Sorvina perform steadily in their limited roles and Don Cheadle notches up another commanding turn as local gangster, L.D..
  • July 23, 2007
Up to the very end: Hillarious.
  • July 17, 2007
Great political and social commentary. AND it's hilarious.
  • July 5, 2007
Not too many movies get over 3 stars for me but this movie deserves it.
  • July 4, 2007
Funniest movie I have ever seen. It is hysterical !!!
  • June 30, 2007
I am ambivalent. Almost a decade later, still not entirely certain whether I mildly enjoyed this movie, or loathed it passionately.
