The first thing Peter Salem did when he was released from prison was his way to Bunker Hill, Kansas. Bunker Hill is the town where Peter's ex-wife and their children have chosen to start a new life, but something strange is about to happen in this remote neck of the woods. Shortly after Peter arrives in Bunker Hill, the town goes completely dark; there's no electricity, and even the cars prove completely useless. Try as they might, the community leaders simply can't summon an explanation for the bizarre blackout. Some think it's the apocalypse, and others even suspect a massive terrorist attack. As the citizens of Bunker Hill realize that they are completely cut off from the rest of the world, survival instinct reawakens the town's militant past and prompts everyone to unite against a common enemy. But is the enemy Mr. Farook, the elderly Pakistani immigrant who owns the local convenience store, or someone that no one in town could have ever suspected? Before long a posse has formed, and the entire town must submit to the will of an armed gang lest they risk hung for reason treason by their own friends and neighbors. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Willmott gets it right more than he gets it wrong, but there are a few moments when things slide into broad caricature.
