really, really interesting...until the ending. it didn't resolve anything and rendered the entire movie completely pointless. oh well.

    Minimalist, so not for everyone.

esse filme não deveria ter saído da frança, pois só quem vive lá e conhece a fundo seus sistema social consegue entendê-lo sem ter que recorrer a explicações de terceiros.

I loved certain things about it. The lack of music built the suspense, cinematography was good, but the story was a little confusing in parts, then the ending....don't get me started on the ending. :)

Woah. I rented this after hearing about its success at Cannes, and man. It's been a while since a movie has made me shiver so much. And probably not since The Blair Witch Project have I seen such a sparse movie be so effective.

A couple begins receiving anonymous phone calls and...( read more), worse, surveillance tapes of their home left on their porch. What follows is the couple's descent into mistrust, guilt about the past, and suspicion. By the end, I felt a little unsatisfied (I'll try not to hint why) but then I realized it was because the movie wasn't about bringing everything out into the open and being done with it; it was about repression and what that can do to you. The way the camera would just settle on something for so long -- there's a couple shots that don't move for more than a minute at a time, I swear -- was SO unnerving. There was no soundtrack at all, no special camera effects, in fact, the camera barely ever moved at all, as if the director was so calm and confident about telling the story that nothing fancy was needed. Dane and I were absolutely enthralled and on the edge of our seats the whole time. Wow. Just. Go get this.

"We never ever know what truth is. There are 1000 truths. Its a matter of perspective." Luv DA & JB always.

Så sjukt pretto att jag ville slita av mig benet så jag hade något att slå ihjäl både regissören och manusförfattaren med.

This is a ponderous film, laden with meaning, and sprinkled with joltingly horrific images. But really, did it have to be this obscure?

I'm not really sure what to say about the film. It was very strange and left you with a lot of questions. It felt almost like you were the one watching the family because of the way that the scenes were shot. The scenes were long and some were really boring.

Don't really know what to say about this one. I was going in expecting something completely different then what was delivered. What was delivered was great if you are into subtle film making.
It's slow but the tension works because the character's spend most of their time sear...( read more)ching for answers and it's never made certain that they find them.

The movie approaches the subject 'society of control' with a rare dignity.

A type of film that resembles art more than anything, but feels pointless and empty. The last thing it does is entertain, it leaves the audience pondering throughout it's entire. If you have good patience and have time to concentrate intently on a film's entirety, Hidden Cache ...( read more)may bring you some satisfaction, but it is nothing like it is said to be. It is as I stated a form of art rather than a film, and it's mysterious nature without explanation can result in deep dissapointment if you are not into this style of film. Slow-paced, but original and creative, and you have to give it some acknowledgement for that.

This is not a common movie, this is A REAL THRILLER.

The more I think about this film the more I like it. The Director knew exactly what he wanted to say - and also exactly what he wanted the audience to figure out for themselves. Don't bother with this film if you like a spoon-fed resolution, but definitely watch it if you like a ...( read more)film to challenge you and leave you thinking.

Michael Haneke is Michael Haneke.. As great as you are!! I love his every single work. Hidden.. what was hidden?? We all have any hidden things in our memories. Haneke said "Hey, take a look closely!!" Are We ignore or forget something.. everything is worth remember. Even some of...( read more) them are tragic & painfuL This is one of his masterpiece!!

WARNING: Not read this if you haven't seen it..

The suicide scene is one of the most shocking scenes i've ever seen!! Always love his shocking frame... It's like a great stable long take frame in Benny's Video!! or sex scenes in The Piano Teacher!!

The Conclusion in The ending of the movie was left open!! But it wasn't that shock for people who already saw Benny's Video. Haneke did it superb in the ending scene.. if you didn't take a look closely.. you will not see what was hidden in it! Look around you.. some small details are what you need to know.

"Creative, cold, indifferent, raw, brave!!" there're cruel incidents in his movies.. But he made it all believable and interestin'. Like we look at a real life.. I'm waitin' for your new film, MichaeL!! My Fav Director#$#@

PS. 4/5 for Haneke.. is higher than other directors.. still full of fresh, creative and interestin' things.. I just believe he could create a real real masterpiece for himself one day!!!!! ;D

Boring and pretentious "intellectual" movie, but at least Haneke is able to keep the interest up throughout. A total waste of Juliette Binoche, though.

As much as it pains me to say, this one is probably too deep for me (or, at least too deep for me on a Thursday night after a long day at work with the thought of a microwave dinner and hopefully, an interesting foreign film in mind). I was fairly intrigued from the beginning......( read more)lost some of my interest somewhere along the way...was completely shocked by a few of the scenes...and, by the end, wasn't really sure WHAT the hell to think. So, I'll just think about it some more. But, overall, I wouldn't recommend this one to just anyone. I may have to do some historical reading now on top of it all. Thinking AND Reading!!?!?!? Damn those movie selections!! ;-)

  • May 30, 2007
    Effective, but ultimately quite depressing.
  • May 27, 2007
Slow moving, little suspense, yet strangely compelling.
  • May 27, 2007
Really good. A little slow, but well done. In just a second you can be captured by the movie. Full of intrigue and drama; it is intense and shocking some scenes. Too bad it is not understood in an industry where all people want is special effects or action scenes
  • May 21, 2007
perturbadora como todas las de haneke
  • May 15, 2007
Boring, self-indulgent, pointless French "thriller" in the Hitchcockian style. Shoot me.
  • May 14, 2007
    Slow start, but eventually gripping.
  • May 9, 2007
    Stunning French Film. Magnificent Direction.
  • May 8, 2007
OMG DON"T WATCH!!! This is the MOST BoRiNg movie you'll ever watch!
  • May 7, 2007
    Clever... but not for everyone.
  • May 7, 2007
best film i saw in 2006 filmaking at its most complex and brillient
  • May 7, 2007
Interesting film, but kinda slow. Much more profound than it seems. The ending leaves doubts and different interpretations. No soundtrack and a lot of static images can be sleepy if you are not in the mood.
  • April 30, 2007
    Outlandish and engaging!
  • April 30, 2007
Strange and engaging. It doesn't totally work. There is one scene that will blow you away. Ending is irritatingly vague.
  • April 29, 2007
Slow, feels home made. But what else to expect from a Cannes film festival entry? Film was imaginative in certain areas, but lack any professional production values. Suicide scene was exceptionally well done.
  • April 24, 2007
It is near impossible to NOT get caught on tape.
  • April 16, 2007
Another mindf... of a movie!!!! You literally squirm in your seat watching it but are so rivetted you can't even get up to go to the bathroom. Depends anyone? :-)
