This was an interesting look at rockandroll and Blues at its best...I felt like I had watched this movie before though. It didnt really seem original! Adrien Brody was great AAAAS always! Beyonce wasnt bad either! But it seemed like the same movie as Dream Girls...Her voices is a...( read more)lways SPOT ON AND PERFECT! soo clear and she's very good at letting her emotions come though to song.

Just not that Fresh, but not terrible.

Fast, crisp and lively, the film packs a half-dozen stories into two hours with little time for melodrama or sermonizing. The dialogue is quick and sharp; short scenes make powerful points. It gets choppy at times and its time line a little squiggly, but it should please Music-bu...( read more)ffs as a celebration of the best of the Blues and the birth of Rock 'n Roll. The cast is strong (especially Jeffrey Wright), the music is, of course, great. But the real strength of Cadillac Records is found in the stories behind it.

Trying to avoid the financial misery of his father, Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody) opened a bar in a predominately African-American neighborhood, attracting the attention of struggling blues performers, including Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright) and Little Walter (Columbus Short). Using artists like Waters, Walter, Willie Dixon (Cedric the Entertainer), Howlin' Wolf (Eamonn Walker), and Chuck Berry (Mos Def), Chess built his company on a stack of top records, encouraging radio integration and the sweep of rock and roll. Paying his talent in Cadillacs and favors, Chess endured a turbulent ride of success, and with the introduction of Etta James (Beyonce Knowles), Chess found his ingénue, threatening the integrity of his unique reward system. Wright in particular is just superb here, demonstrating yet again that he is one of cinema's finest character actors. Meanwhile, Brody manages to make Leonard Chess a very compelling figure. The film keeps a steady stream of soulful blues flowing from start to finish, and the bland bits of formula wind up feeling more like commercial breaks in the middle of an exceptionally enjoyable television special. If you're coming for the drama, you'll be disappointed, but if you're coming for the music, you'll get your money's worth.

Good movie, continuity issues, but makes the case for the need for a Chuck Berry movie.

This was an interesting look into the blues & soul music back in the day and the best thing about it was the amazing cast. It also had some great songs & Beyonce stood out of the crowd.

Quite an impressive look at the music industry back in the day with some outstanding performances from the likes of Beyonce, Adrien Brody & Columbus Short. A little slow to begin with but seems to pick up near the middle. Songs don't really stand out either, but Beyonce singing 'At Last' was a nice touch. Overall it's pretty good and worth a look.
