Making the third of her film appearances at Monogram Studios, striptease artist Ann Corio plays the underdressed but very prim heroine of Call of the Jungle. The scene is a South Seas island, where a pair of jewel thieves take refuge. Understaffed island police chief James Bush enlists the aid of the sarong-clad Ms. Corio to flush out the bad guys. Visually, Call of the Jungle isn't bad at all; the film falters only during the somewhat incoherent dialogue sequences. As for Ann Corio, she isn't any great shakes as an actress, but few male filmgoers lodged any complaints back in 1944.
