Just above average chick flick with some heart - Shirley plays with conviction, but Atterton's unlikely romance writer role is a bit far fetched. Watchable though. Saw this a second time by accident, and actually gave it then 5/10.

I came in at the tail end of this movie (midday movie on tv) and it looked alright. Would like to see it in it's entirety but it reminded me a lot of Where The Heart Is. So it's a chick flick boys!!!

i was very surprise by this movie. i originally rented it because shirley mcklain and julia styles are it and i love them love the way they act. it turned out to be a great movie about how important family life is, no matter how off the wall it is, and that through all of lifes turns there is nothing like home. and that if the cards are right the person who you only thought of as a friend, can be more if you just opened your eyes.

A beautifully funny romantic comedy all about finding love when it's right in front of you. Great acting and a brillant script combine to make this touchingly hilarious movie.

Decent chick flick. This movie is so predictable that in the end they try to make it not so "predictable" and it just comes off forced. Even though I knew what was going to happen I still enjoyed watching this movie.

Looks like Stiles is taking a shit. Seriously, look at the picture. It's like she's taking a big dump and it feels great to her, and some lady is standing behind her thinking "That looks like a great dump!"

Cute love sick movie. Gramma (Shirley MacLaine) was the best. It was a no brainer. You knew what was going to happen next.

Was such a long time I saw this movie, need to refresh my memory and see it again, but I remember that I thought it was okay when I saw it and I think I'd think it would be really good if I saw it now!!

Shirley MacLaine is always a good excuse for a fun film and that was the case again here. Eccentric families have a lot more fun maybe but without most of the luxuries life has to offer. Is that a bad thing? Do we all need to have a picture book family? Great film

This is such a feel-good movie! No matter how crazy your family may be, most of us really do love them underneath it all.

again, it was a chick flick, and i usually watch darker movies, but this was a great light movie.. great chick flick.. i needed one of those tonight.. and this one was worth it.. julia stiles and shirley maclaine were the reasons i picked it up off the shelf, and it definately delivered.. julia is really good at troubled moody isnt she! it was a sweet tale with a bittersweet ending you could see coming.. even made me cry when.. watch the movie and you will find out when LOL anyways, i plan to buy it one day.. we all need a light one some days :d

Woah I watched this movie just today on TV. I must say I enjoyed it, kind of strange but her family is so dysfunctional lol and its just a good story. Plus there are a few hot guys in it so that always makes it worthwhile.
