A dashingly romantic comedy starring Heath Ledger and Sienna Miller. It shows what lengths legendary playboy Casanova will go to to win over the woman he's madly in love with. It may sound easy for someone like Casanova, but Francesca despises everything about Casanova. This may be a little harder then it seems.

Heath Ledger was soo gifted and I would really love to see him in a role at which he perfected before.

He was the world's most notorious seducer. A swashbuckler, master of disguise and wit - it was said no woman could resist Casanova's amorous charms. Until now.
For the first time in his life, the legendary Casanova (Heather Ledger) is about to meet his match with an alluring Venetian beauty, Francesca (Sienna Miller), who does the one thing he never thought possible: refuse him. Through a series of clever disguises and scheming ruses, he manages to get ever closer to Francesca. But he is playing the most dangerous game he has ever encountered ? one that will risk not only his life and reputation, but his only chance at true passion.
From Academy Award® nominated director Lasse Hallström ("Chocolat," "The Cider House Rules") comes a rousing romantic comedy about Casanova's greatest adventure -- losing his heart. The film also stars Oscar® Winner Jeremy Irons, as the detective-like Bishop Pucci who pursues Casanova, hoping to catch him in the act of illicit seduction, Oscar® nominee Lena Olin as the mother of Francesca, and Oliver Platt as Paprizzio, Francesca's betrothed.
REVIEW HAS BEEN DELAYED..... -
I have definitely seen better period pieces. The only thing I really liked about this film were the costumes and the sets.
-
saw the beginning and stopped watching cause i wasn't hooked. maybe i just wan't in the mood to watch it.
-
What can I say? There were some very funny places, undoubtedly my favourite being "My Lady says the pig must stay outside, but the animal, we'll take." And Heath was as dazzling as always! Besides, I didn't know that Charlie Cox was playing there until I saw him and that was a pleasant surprise :)

Maybe it was because Heath Ledger is soo sexy, or maybe I'm just a romantic, but I loved this movie!
-
A thoroughly enjoyable romantic comedy.. Heath Ledger delivered a great performance as Casanova and Sienna Miller was a refreshing heroine

This movie wasn't as good as I thought it would be, there were part of it that were good to watch. Like the escape at the end, but that's about it. But make your own decision about it, and watch.
-
This was alright nothing too special but not terrible either. Just something casual - something I'm not likely to watch again though sadly. An interesting kind of story though and fun'ish characters. R.I.P Heath Ledger

The ever-versatile Heath Ledger seamlessly slips into the shoes of the infamous womanizer Casanova.
Cute and romantic. -
Despite being a light, funny in parts, rom com about the life of the notorious lover Casanova. I thought it could be some much better, and Irons should really stay away from the comic relief role!
-
At a certain point we'll just have to go back to all these fun Heath Ledger movies. This is great fun. A romp.

1/2 saw it didn't like it & would never see again
1=would see it again if there was nothing else to do
3=liked
4-5=loved and then some -
A bit cheesy, but overall I enjoyed it. Heath Ledger does a great job in any movie. Sienna Miller and Charlie Cox were good, as well. Natalie Dormer's lusty facial expressions were too funny. However, it was just a typical romantic comedy movie. Nothing all that exceptional.

I have been called a Casanova in the past but never really understood why. Now I do. He is my new hero.
-
Nice movie. Has some funny moments but a little hard to believe that a man like Casanova would change and be just with one girl.
-
Excellent film. Very funny and Jeremy Irons is awesome. Sad to watch in light of Heaeth's death but he gives a great performance in thiis.
-
I just fancy seeing another film with Heath Ledger, who recently attracted my attention.
weeks later.......
In the meantime poor Heath Ledger has passed away and I eventually get round to watching the film.
Great acting by Ledger but ... woww.... what a portrayal.... pathetic storyline making it a let down. -
Everyone will enjoy this. Male, female, inbetween - it's not a chick flick, it's a sophisticated (and hysterical) comedy.
Funny, as opposed to soppy, make this film really worthwhile. One of the only "romantic comedies" I really enjoyed, "Casanova" steers away from the love and focuses on society's view of promiscuity.
Unlike other movies of the genre, the film never resorts to pathetic one - liners. Oliver Platt earns the movie another half - star. His character stands out even more than Heath Ledger's Casanova.
Great acting, breath - taking view of 18th century Venice and a witty script. A winner. -
Not too bad, but I have to say it was quite predictable, and at times ridiculous at parts, where the lines would be very cheesy! This plot has been done many times, and it is quite easy to predict what will happen as far as the romance goes, but it was still fun to watch, with some good actors and actresses. It does have some bad content, though.

No woman can say "no" to Casanova, and Heath Ledger, either. Even though he has left us for a bit long time, I still miss him so much!
-
It was AWFUL!! The plot was dull and crazy/stupid and at times confusing and it seemed to drag on.As charming as Heath ledger has been in his other movies, he did a poor job playing the ultimate seducer in this one.It was the worst movie I've seen in a long time.
-
really funny movie, heath's acting as awesome in it, i'm not really a fan of romantic comedies but this ones a good one.
-
Entertaining movie but a bit of a strange twist at the end. Anyway, womaniser and liar Casanova lives happily ever after with the woman of his dreams and he's a changed man!
