Terry: "Gee, ain't life grand?" You know where that's from? What movie? Ain't Life Grand, no?" Bonnie and Clyde. Two Barrow brothers having a fine time
and Clyde says, "Ain't life grand?"
Ian: You know what happened to them?

Another Woody Allen film that sides with the dramatic ...( read more)parts of life. It stars Colin Ferrel and Ewan McGreggor as two brothers with money problems and a solution to that problem in the form a deadly proposition.

All the leads are good here, but the main problem is the lack of any flash. For a Woody Allen film the dialog doesn't really spark with much clever or witty rhythm.

The mood is fairly muddy throughout and doesn't really warrant repeated viewings.

These gripes aside, the score by Philip Glass is good and the two leads do work well with each other.

    Kate: I'm worried about Terry.

Cassandra's Dream is a dull journey of two brothers (Colin Farrell and Ewan MacGregor) who in a desperate attempt for money agree to assist their uncle (Tom Wilkinson) in eliminating a problem.

I can understand why this is called Cassandra's Dream now. It's not the name of the ...( read more)boat, it's the fact that you'll be dreaming after the first ten minutes. That's sadly what happened to me and I had to rewind and try to stay awake for the remainder of the film. It's a clock watcher film. You'll find yourself looking at your watch or watching the countdown tick on your DVD player hoping that it will be over soon. I hoped for a magnificent closing 30 minutes and was met with more boredom. Woody Allen's a hit or miss guy and this one is one of those failures. If you need sleep, enjoy.

Not bad, but certainly not nearly as good as "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead". See the latter if you haven't already and skip this one.

I was bored out of my mind throughout this entire movie. The only 2 parts where I was somewhat interested were the 2 scenes in which someone was killed.

CASSANDRA'S DREAM is a tight, tense London morality play, but still very Woody. It's well plotted, and so much fun to watch McGregor/Farrell play Cockney brothers. A much more effective thriller than the overrated MATCH POINT.

    Ewan Mcgregor? Yes, please.

I really loved the fact that Colin Farrell, the usually tough guy, is the sensitive one in this picture. I really enjoyed the leading duo's performance and I think, overall, "Cassandra's Dream" is a very good film!

Every time I decide to watch something from Woody Allen, I can be sure not to end up disappointed. He has a consistency that few directors have and if for some reason I don't find the story intriguing, I can always admire the photography, some interesting character or the acting....( read more) "Cassandra's Dream" reminds me of his brilliant "Match Point", because both involves great and rather complex stories about tragedies, and, not to forget, beautiful environments. Allen has gathered an impressive set of actors too, and it's a treat to watch them together. Thinking of all the great scripts Woody Allen has written lately, I think it should be illegal for him not to continue on this 1 movie/year he has been doing lately.

Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor as brothers? YES!. In a Woody Allen's movie? YES!... The result? Mhm! Not as good as I'd expect! :S
