Generic horror from Twisted Pictures, the producers of Saw. With a charisma-free cast (including Alecia "Pink" Moore in her screen debut) and largely devoid of tension, it tries to redeem itself with a twist ending

I gave this movie a shot, why? I HAVE NO IDEA. The plot I guess seemed decent, and I'll admit it was a'ight.

Ehh... not real good. First off, the main character had a nice bone structure, just have to mention that. But she became awfully annoying. Now for the specific things I didn't like. Right after she got back from being chased and she gets back into the club, she magically finds her friend right away. How realistic is that? And did I forget to mention how clitche it was? And shes sitting in the beginning trying to learn french... laughing & smiling at herself? Nobody does that... And by the way, bats wouldn't attack somebody. They don't do that. Something that also really got me was the fact that was so much unnessicary nudity, sex, and swearing. They tried way too hard to make this movie intense and bold. But basically, everything about this movie was overdone. The gore, there was too much, there would never be that much blood, it was just randomly there. The acting was bad and they over-said things. Like, it could have been a simple "ahh!" instead they throw in a loud, fake sounding "AHHHHH OH MY GOD AH! AH! JESUS CHRIST !AH! AHHH SAVE ME OH MY! AHHH! EEEEKKK!!! AHHH!" Ok, we get it. The music and sounds don't exactly fit. Shes just waltzing around and its this hectic, crazy music. But now, I liked the beginning I guess where she was in the airport. It kept my attention. And ok, I will admit I really did like the part with the 'nicer' guy. His face when he smiled and ran away DID kinda creep me out. *spoiler* at the end, I wanted to personally murder her sister with a toothpick so i could continously stab and torture her. The ending was just like, what? No, this is stupid. The movie never hit home, and the entire thing was just a huge burst of blood and screaming.

...Why didn't Victoria have a cell phone?

Interesting but the character of Victoria did end up becoming very annoying with her inability to be quiet and constant necessity to talk to people despite knowing that they do not speak english.
Gets tiring by the end of it to see her running down tunnels all the time.

I think this had potential with a good location for a horror, but overall it's no where near what it could have been. If this was a short story it might have been better but even at 85mins it feels way too long. The majority of the film features the girl running and screaming through tunnels in the darkness.....followed by more running through dark tunnels! The twist ending did start to become a bit obvious, well the first part anyway, and it has been done much better in many other horrors. If you did like this check out the more like this section.

I was thinking that this might not be so good, but I was wrong. Simple, but very effective. I am not a fan of Pink anyway, but she was a real *nutmeg* to her sister in this film. I loved the setting. I don't really want to see France, but I woudln't mind visiting the catacombs. This would be my only other interest besides seeing the lavender fields of Provence, tasting the wines and cheeses, and seeing the countrysides with the castles.
I was really hoping this would not be a slasher film, and I'm so glad it wasn't. I loved the ending. The girl was right to snap, I would have done the same thing. I love to scare people, but this was just going too far.
I would never go to a party in such a place because I consider it to be very disrespectful. And if by some chance I were, I would not be drinking Absinthe. Nor would I ever drink it--it is made from an herb that can be deadly.
On the other hand, a place like that I find to be very romantic. I would love it; save I'm not lost in 300 miles of darkness without my lover.

a few things A. this film is more of a psychological thriller than a horror movie B. it's an interesting study in what prolonged stress can do to the psyche C. the end result was kinda predictable

This is a classic example of what I call "a great idea done badly". This had such potential for being an interesting and unique film - and certainly there were elements that gave it plenty of opportunity to do so - yet it failed to execute. Alecia Moore (Pink) I must say was a pleasant surprise - certainly a good role for her, and quite frankly I felt she upstaged Sossamon in the lead... I would've much preferred Moore's character to have had thelead role and think this could've helped generate a different feel to the story, albeit not necessarily a better movie.

I'd recommend this for people who can keep an open mind, who can watch this simply to get an insight into the potential that this film had.

I can't believe how badly this movie messed itself up. The idea of setting a horror film in the Paris catacombs is fantastic, and yet this movie manages to completely avoid milking their potential. It sets itself up to be a slasher flick (which was surprising in itself - I was expecting ghosts or subterranean monsters), but then completely ditches its villain and proceeds to follow the heroine as she runs around in the dark for an hour, mostly by herself, and does a lot of nothing. It's long, it's boring, and the "twist" ending is, while mildly entertaining, not worth the effort of making it through the movie.

Running...Screaming...Running some more. Really now. My friends and I could have made a more captivating horror/suspense flick. This movie is awful.

A deliciously twisted little film. What fun. Even Pink is enjoyable in this one. Shannyn rocks of course, but I really enjoyed the plot/ idea of it all. Doesn't everyone get sick of the "Fear is fun" idea?

Although not a highly known cast and a low budget, this psychological ride did not fail to entertain. This was Pink's first film and she was very believable in it.

a really great movie.. I liked how they filmed the movie... in the catacombs... in the dampness and in the unspoken land of the dead.. I love the twist at the end... then to make it even better... a double twist :D

OK, so I didn't expect much out of this film. Take that statement and my rating and you will see if this is worth your time or not.

Catacombs is marketed as a horror/suspense. I guess this movie fits into that category, but ... it is somewhat different. The plot is empty. I don't know what else to say about it. The first 30 minutes is crap. You have the two main characters getting ready for a party and then actually going to that party. At one point during this time, one of the many small characters gives a 1 minute spiel that sets up the next hour of the movie. It is stupid and bland, but it does its job.

The last 5-10 minutes is the best part of the film. So, what takes place in the 50 minutes before that. Running. Shannyn Sossamon has this film all to herself. Nothing exciting. Just running. At least this all happens in the catacombs, which makes the title appropriate. I guess the good thing about the film taking place down there is that it is dark and because of this the lighting effects and shots are pretty good.

You will probably hear a bunch of people praise the ending. Half of it is predictable, while the other half isn't. It is the unpredictable half that everybody will hint at and I have to admit, it is unexpected. Is it worth watching this movie for? I think not. Then again, that is for you to decide.

The acting isn't award winning. There are 2 big names in this film. Shannyn Sossamon and Alecia Moore (Pink). Everybody else is forgettable. Shannyn does a pretty good job at screaming, crying, and whatever else it takes to be in a movie like this. Running around in a dress the whole time doesn't hurt either. Pink actually does a decent job with her character, but unfortunately she doesn't do much.

This film isn't scary, but it is suspenseful. Unless you are a huge fan of these types of movies or Shannyn Sossamon, stay away from this.
