After reading Kevin Smith's Diary, "My Boring Ass Life" I felt compelled to watch this movie as he chronicles some of his time making it (for which he took some guff from the studios for revealing too much).
Smith was fun to watch as he was primarily playing himself. Garner, a ...( read more) -

Quite boring, but with quite the stud playing the romantic interest. Suitable late night basic cable fare.

The living arrangements of Gray (Jennifer Garner) and all her fiancé's friends -- even her fiancé's best friend is somewhat strange - they all live together in a house.
This movie is great -- the type where everyone grows up a bit during the movie. I saw it a second time a ye...( read more) -

I have seen this. I think she ended up witht the guy I wanted her to but cant remember much of it, if anything at all. Think her fiance was Jeffery Dean Morgan if I'm thinking of the right movie though...??
Critic Reviews
One of those movies where the small pleasures stack up high enough to dwarf the disappointments. full review
If grief were as easily overcome as it is in Catch and Release, Prozac sales would be in dire trouble. full review
The kind of movie that just can't seem to have enough annoying self-absorbed people around to rattle on about their life woes. Catch this release at your own peril. full review
The film suffers from a style that settles for pleasant or touching at the cost of spontaneous or impassioned. Too bad, because Ms. Garner is a genuinely pleasing presence. full review
Screenwriter Susannah Grant makes her directing debut with a romance that wants to respect the mess of love and loss but winds up smoothing all its rough edges with a Hollywood pumice stone. full review
The chick comedy-drama Catch and Release may look bland, but it's not. It's worse. To rise to the level of blandness, it would need to have a few gallons of Tabasco dumped into it. full review
The film's a pleasant enough daydream before it turns all squoodgy at the end. full review
If it should happen that one day Netflix includes Catch and Release among "Movies you'd also enjoy," consider cancelling your subscription. full review

February 11, 2008not a very good movie. i was very disappointed. I did not like the love interest, there was no chemistry between him and Jennifer Garner?

June 12, 2007This movie comes up "short". Feels like there's something missing. If you like Jennifer Garner, you'll like this film simply because she's in it. If you're not a big fan of hers, then you'll only feel disaapointed.

May 21, 2007One of the most average, forgettable, anti-climatic films in existence.
But hey, great use of the song "Razor" from the Foo Fighters at the begin which saves this movie from being scrapped to my "Movies So Bad They're Really Bad" List. -
May 18, 2007Have to agree with the last person. People are looking too far into this.. The movie doesn't promote cheating. Cheating happens in real life, and it's just portraying how the girl is dealing with it.

May 18, 2007I don't understand all the negative comments and criticism about this movie. I mean don't take it for any more than it is for crying out loud. It's just a nice little story that albeit rare, it possibly could happen in real life. People are human and have unexpected human emotions at unexpected times but that's not the point anyway. At least she found out more about her lost love and she found out more about his friends and herself. Just let'em be happy and go with the flow, lol.
