Thank you John Waters, for never selling out. Still the same crazy characters and story-line as ever.

After watching this, I just sit and wonder if Kevin Nealon wouldn't have been an excellent Forrest Gump.

    Death to mainstream cinema!!

De-ment-ed For-ev-er!!! I have no clue why people think this is not as good as Waters' other work. So vastly under-rated, waaaay better than Sunset Boulevard or Day of the Locust when it comes to a movie about movies.

I love how they made fun of Forrest Gump and Patch Adams because I fucking hate those movies. There are some really ridiculous one-liners. And, I have to say, Melanie Griffith was really funny.

A hilarious movie that managed to make fun of both mainstream Hollywood and underground filmmaking. Movie buffs will get a real kick out of this one.

I am a big John Waters fan, and this is the only one of his films that I've been seriously disappointed by. I could hardly even make it through the entire film.

When did John Waters' movies become so shitty? True, there are some amusing moments in this one, but overall this is a highly embarrassing, badly acted and pompously written pseudo-radical piece of bull.

This movie was great! It was wild and insane with just the right amount of humor. I'll have to watch this one again sometime.

based oh so loosely on the story of patty hearst, baltimore legend and self proclaimed king of smut, John waters, does it again, this time taking on hollywood attitude with his twisted story of renegade film making. stephen dorff plays the title character with joy in his eyes and evil in his smile. and melanie griffith dives into her character with a performance the likes of which i've never seen before. look for kevin nealon playing forest gump in the faux film forest gump 2, it's classic!

a fucking fantastic take on politics, patty hearst(who is in most of john waters films)and a take on john waters early days of film making(without the action and violence).its sort of a change of pace and genre of film-making john waters is known to do!

Often overlooked but John Waters gets back to his roots and quits trying to please Hollywood.
    The result is a treat.

Certainly a more digestible auld lang syne for Waters than 'A Dirty Shame' (which was). Its canniest idea is how easily renegade intentions can be embraced, co-opted and gentrified. Need more proof? Check out what sort of films Waters is putting in his yearly top 10 lists in Artforum.

John Waters baltimore set tale of renegade film making, loosely based on the true story of patty hearst. not as raunchy as most of his others but funny none the less

Among the better of the over-the-top films that satisfies pubescent angst in the middle-school years of a teenagers life. Sadly, it doesn't amount to much more than that... Which would be exactly what Cecil would have wanted, anyway. Snuff, porn and action movies are the genres of honor here, and they all have their moments of half-parody, half-homage.

John Waters demented, and I suspect autobiographical (at least metaphorically speaking), salvo at Hollywood and the film industry. It's a bon bon of a film, but it's a bon bon with a razor blade inside.

I guess I can see what John Waters was going for in this bland attempt to further his career. It's worth watching at least once, but there will be several moments where you are questioning if you can actually finish this movie. It stands alone from most any other movie that Waters has in his resume, and you will find yourself picking one of his better films next time.

Just absolutely hilarious. John Waters is a fantastic director and Stephen Dorff is genius in the role of Cecil.

Far as I'm concerned, this is Waters' finest work. He managed to get great performances from Dorff and Griffith... how often does that happen?

una de las mejores peliculas de waters. asi como en pecker se metia con el mundo del arte, en esta se mete con el mundo del cine. asi que, como saben los que conocen su cine, las cosas no pueden salir mejor.

One of my favorite John Waters films. Long live independent cinema. This one kinda takes ya back to his old stuff like Pink Flamingos & Desperate Living.
