Through a fantastical occurrence, Katherine comes into Black's life, and he starts to feel alive. They fall in love. Katherine experiences the same real magic, and she follows her heart, willing to seize the moment and defy the natural logic of things. She is ready to hop on the passing train of time with him. Black lets his logic prevail and pauses, then decides later to hop on with her. But the pause was too long. Time doesn't wait. Black loses Katherine, and now must try to get her back. But is it too late?

    Channels is a sweet romantic movie that hits hard with the theme of trying to outsmart the concept of a passage of time. Our hero blows it when it comes to taking an action with matters regarding love. Then he tries to recapture something.

    Actor-writer-director, Nat Christian ...( read more)stirs up a very tasty soup with comedy, romance and bittersweet tragedy all blended in in just the right amounts. His wonderful ensemble of actors are all truthful and real. There is beautiful music by Rossano Galante. The seductive romantic look was shot by Michael Hardwick who was the director of photography. And the affectingly surreal dream sequences were done by visual effects person, Duane Condor. The film works on many levels.

    Nat Christian portrays the lead character with great subtlety and a moving honesty. The romantic female lead is craftily portrayed by Kim Oja, who also has the task of playing a dual role. She is quite moving as well as being hilarious in some of the comedic scenes. John Kassir, Taylor Negron and Ed Asner along with Joan Van Ark add great talent to the ensemble.

    It's hard to find independent movies like CHANNELS, because of the obvious lack of advertising funds. Once in a while, we hit one or two that we just love. - like this one.

    I'm thinking about all of the good, really good independent movies that are out there and that I have probably missed.

    Fortunately I didn't miss this one. A friend saw it at a festival and he ordered it.

    It is a remarkable film, in that it plays like a romantic comedy, but...( read more) contains deeply serious undertones - What defines what is real and what is not? Can we define our own reality by believing in something strong enough?

    Sounds like a college course in existentialism.

    But it is a movie and it gets us to the point where those questions are important enough for the main characters to ask themselves.

    One of the main characters is played by beautiful Km Oja,who brings a loveliness along with her very fine acting skills to her role. Well, really two roles, because she plays two different characters. She is both funny and kind of tragic.

    The male lead is played by Nat Christian, who brings a refreshing naturalness to his role. He is both honest and subtle.

    There are other very fine performances, notably by Ed Asner, who has us in the palm of his hand with a funny monologue. Joan Van Ark looks great and she should be back on the screen. John Kassir and Taylor Negron play it real, while portraying off-beat characters. This is an ensemble cast of very fine actors who never "push" to tell the story.

    I really liked the music score by Rossano Galante. The main "song" was written by Daryl Orenge and Cynthia Hasson, and the lyrics by Christian.

    The overall look, cinematography by Michael Hardwick and production design by Dolores Piazza, was well coordinated with the story, as it was romantic and inviting. Some good visual effects by Duane Condor.

    CHANNELS was written and directed by Nat Christian as well. He did an excellent job of bringing it all together to invoke a feeling, which allowed us to think about the questions posed.

    Indie movies, with original voices such as this one, are getting harder and harder to find. I hope that there are more opportunities for the many talented filmmakers out there.

    Like a good book I was totally absorbed in this film.

    All of the actors are excellent. The main character is played with such naturalness by Nat Christian that you feel you are peeking in on the guy. Ed Asner has some really funny moments, and I saw a side of him that I have...( read more)n't seen before. Comedian, Taylor Negron also shows a side that one never sees. He plays it seriously. John Kassir and Joan Van Ark also contribute their gifted selves as a hard nosed agent and a hard nosed TV producer respectively. And Kim Oja is just adorable as Christian's love interest. She is very vulnerable and often time very funny (in a separate role as well). Oja and Christian pull off this type of screwball comedy very well.

    Christian wrote and directed this movie with a real respect for the audience. I felt that he never gave out too much information, which kept me wondering, but there was always a payoff (although I would have wanted the movie to go another way).

    Cool score by Rossano Galante.

    The movie was executive produced by Ann Marcus, a notable TV writer-producer. Marcus knows quality and obviously made it possible for these filmmakers to make a cool independent movie.

    Independent movies should keep flourishing as long as filmmakers are occasionally allowed to make movies that, on the surface, do not seem like blockbuster commercial hits.

    I fell in love with this. I thought it was going to be a light romantic comedy (that is what I was settling in for), and it is, but then a simple, yet deep, philosophy sneaks up.

    The actors are very "real" in this movie. It's a style that one would find in some European movies...( read more), where the actors seem like they were peeked in on. It's as thought they are not actors, but people off the street, which might seem to make them appear understated, but I like it a lot, because I never felt I was being "sold." Would like to see more of this kind.

    Comic, Taylor Negron, has never been more real. John Kassir is funny in his supporting role as a cynical Hollywood manager. Joan Van Ark is great as a tough TV executive. Ed Asner has one of the best moments that I ever saw him in when he does a short monologue. The lead actor, Nat Christian gives a very honest portrayal, with very subtle nuances. He is interesting to watch. The lead actress, Kim Oja delivers a natural and vulnerable portrayal, and very nicely plays up her comedic talents in a dual role.

    Christian wrote and directed this movie - its themes something that he is obviously passionate about. He allowed his actors to be real and to shine. He blends his comedic, romantic and thoughtful moments together very effectively so that it is entertaining and which also would make you think.

    And the score is very seductive. The score's composer was by Rossano Galante. The flavorful look lends itself to the overall vision of the film. Camera work was by Michael Hardwick. Production design was by Dolores Piazza.

    Other actors to give mention to: Christopher Shiffrin in a cute, silent bit. Gil Glasgow and Herman Poppe deliver fine performances. And beautiful Chloe Hunter exudes a sweetness along with her good looks.

    Other mentions should go to a delightful song written by Daryl Orenge and Cynthia Hasson, with lyrics by Christian. And some very fine visual effects by Duane Conder (who also co-edits)

    A very unique movie. Directed from the heart by actor-writer-director Nat Christian. He also plays the lead with a fiercely honest, albeit, subtle performance. His co-star, Kim Oja greatly demonstrates both comedic as well as dramatic talents

    The lead actors are great to look at! Chemistry, sexy and lots of fun.

    This movie was fun. No, it was romantic. No, it was thought provoking and bittersweet. No, wait, it was... delicious.
    "Channels" was masterfully written and directed by Nat Christian. Christian obviously had a clear and passionate vision and directed it with a light but very...( read more) specific touch, blending all of the above elements into one heck of a movie.
    Actress Kim Oja, who plays the female lead is wonderfully adorable in a dual role. I think of Meg Ryan.
    Christian plays the male lead flawlessly. He's an actor that one watches every moment, because he never lies as an actor. He comes off very natural, as though you just met him on the sidewalk. I think of actors like Jack Lemmon, Brando, Bogart.
    Ed Asner lends his incredible talent as a studio boss with some funny moments.
    Joan Van Ark comes off very sincere. Hopefully her talents will be showcased more on the screen. John Kassir is very funny. As is Taylor Negron, who also has some rare sincere moments.
    The cinematograpy by Michael Hardwick is great to look at, which is supported by good production design by Dolores Piazza and wonderful SFX by Duane Condor.
    The main song written Daryl Orenge (Music) and Christian (Lyrics) is haunting as it is used twice.
    The score by Rossano Galante is nothing short of fantastic. This is one artist we should keep an eye on.
    I loved this movie.

    Tried to be deep but the acting was HORRIBLE. Good narration.
