Here was me thinking I recorded the Steve Martin version, although similar kind of storyline, no comical bits, the childrens ages vary and parents have different jobs, but enjoyable to watch.

I saw the last bit of this on Film 4. I knew of the Steve Martin version of recent times & hadn't wanted to watch, but this film caught my attention & it could be a good story, I'll have to watch at some point. :)

A Warm family movie about an interesting family. Clifton Webb was wonderful in this film. Beats the hell out of the Steve Martin "remake"

It may not be as good as the first movie, but the crazy adventures keep on rolling. Plus this time the Bakers have to face another competetive family that's just as big as them.

i could see one of these child stars writing home..."Hey, Mom, I got a part in the show! Problem is, there's about 50 of us, so I have, like, 2 lines."

Steve Martin is too funny and I like this movie very much. Seeing the parents trying to balance such a big family was too much.

Not the Steve Martin remake but the original Clifton Webb effort. Comedy dates and this is no exception, plus the ending is one of the worst I've ever seen.

I'm sure Clifton Webb and especially Myrna Loy are infinitely more charming than Steve Martin and co, but to say family orientated comedy is not my cup of tea would be an understatement of biblical proportions...

Repairman: All those kids yours mister, or is this a picnic?
Frank Gilbreth: They're all mine and believe me, it's no picnic!

This is a wondeful movie and a joy to watch today. Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy are wonderful as the lead characters.

By jingo it's an old movie! It's good, but I have to admit, I like the remake much more, it's a lot less.. sad..

Charmer. Clifton Webb is in his element and Myrna Loy plays off him perfectly. (I even love the kids.); the Planned Parenthood scene is classic.

The original Cheaper By the Dozen is the best. i can't help but think of my family when I watch it. I still cry when I watch this movie.

Isn't it funny that this is I think the third remake. All in all love the one with Lucy and Henry Fonda.

Great movie. I used to have this on video tape and watched it all the time when I was younger. I have always loved it.

I have not seen this version of Cheaper By the Dozen but I would love to see it. I predict that it is like the other versions of Cheaper By the Dozen.

Sadly, I saw the remake before this, the original, and the remake ruined the power of the original's ending for me.

This was surprisingly enjoyable, heck perhaps even more than the more recent update done by Steve Martin. It has that classic feel-good sense to it despite the near-absurdity of the entire premise.

This is so close to the book (much closer than the remake) its a very enjoyable film to watch, a heart-warming classic!

If you are going to watch a movie by this name this is the one to watch. Not the stupid re-make. Try it, you'll like it.

Why pray tell does Steve Martin insist on remaking the classics...horribly? Leave well enough alone. Stick with this version.

A good movie with a good story behind it about family always being there for you, it just might take a minute for them to realize you need them. Sometimes you have to hit them over the head!

an ok movie but nothing special. i have a certain contempt for this one even though i'm sure it was a fine film for the 1800's or whatever... it's just a bit damn dull now
