, Time Out
Only in the highly orchestrated, surprisingly gory climax, wherein Chucky's plastic form takes on the sins of the flesh, is there a spark of originality.
-
Richard Harrington, Washington Post
An inevitable sequel that's not as good as its progenitor, but better than most movies with the numbers 2 through 8 in their titles.
-
Tim Brayton, Antagony & Ecstasy
In embracing its identity as a tacky horror movie, and totally scrapping the murder mystery angle that made the original so wobbly, it manages to be a darn sight more fun to watch.
-
Dustin Putman, DustinPutman.com
The mystique might have faded, but the psychopathic Chucky is still an apt threat.
-
David Nusair, Reel Film Reviews
...a surprisingly effective sequel that's sure to please fans of this ongoing series.

Stefan Birgir Stefansson, sbs.is
maybe i'm crazy but i liked it alot

Clint Morris, Film Threat
A Hip, equally satisfying sequel...Chucky's badder than ever!

Scott Weinberg, eFilmCritic.com
Entirely standard sequel fare. Fans of the first one will be entertained on an infrequent basis.

I would have to say that Child's Play 2 was probably more entertaining than the first, not a great film, but watchable as part of the series.

There are a few solid gore effects and surprising kills, but Chucky is an absolutely shit villain. Do people actually LIKE Brad Dourif's overwrought, unclever voice performance? Inconceivable. The complete lack of atmosphere and overblown 90s horror lighting destroy any scares Child's Play 2 might have earned, but there are some vaguely interesting things to get out of its treatment of child abandonment and displacement of fear. Far be it from me to expect any sort of cerebral experience from a slasher about a doll, but it's evident that a degree of thought DID go into this, which makes its overall failure as a horror film all the more disappointing.
-
Not as good as the first, but it's a good sequel as far as horror sequels go. It continues the story with the same two main characters, and in a realistic way too. It has a lot of good scares and a fantastic ending. I really like it.

Chucky is back! This time around he brings more humor to things, but it still retains a dark and menacing edge. The effects are pretty good, although the fundamental plot point that makes this movie possible is very unlikely. Still though, this is pretty damn entertaining stuff.

The second Child's Play film is a so-so Horror film, and does not live up the original. No sequel in this series do for that matter. After the events of the first film, Andy is sent to live with a foster family, and Chucky comes back to torment him. Like the third film, I found this film to be quite irritating and as usual, not to be taken too seriously, the way that I view the Child's Play series is simply as an average one trick Horror Comedy series with little to offer the Horror genre. This is one of the better sequels, but to me, it doesn't do anything new to the franchise, and is simply in the a so-so film, and the actor portraying Andy is simply annoying as hell.

This matches with the story line of the first movie. It's pretty much the same old thing only a different victim. Not bad though.

I think this is better than the original because they took the premise to the suburbs, which is where it should have been from the get go. While it's incredibly ridiculous, it became obvious that Chucky is just as funny as he is creepy. A lot of the story elements are effective,… More

While it's incredibly ridiculous, it became obvious that Chucky is just as funny as he is creepy. A lot of the story elements are effective, especially the further sabotage of Andy's life.

Another favourite horror, stupid, gory and inventive.

When I was a kid, me and my mom always liked watching the three "Child's Play" movies and we used to watch a lot of other great horror series together such as "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th." Now that I'm grown, I'm still a big fan of all those classic horror series.
I like all the movies in the "Child's Play" series, but "Child's Play 2" is by far the most memorable one for me. Chucky is back and he's meaner than ever in this sequel to the groundbreaking classic that featured a demonic doll named Chucky. The dolls are named 'Good Guy,' but Chucky isn't so good. Chucky needs to find a new body soon or something will happen to him that he won't be too fond of. Just like in the original, Chucky is on the hunt for a boy named Andy (Alex Vincent), who is terrorized by the sight of any doll that looks like Chucky.
I like all the movies in this series except for "Bride of Chucky." I don't know which one of the first three is my favorite, but this one, "Child's Play 2" is definitely the one I remember the most. Chucky seems more evil than ever in this sequel and many parts, especially the parts that take place in the toy factory, will stick with you long after you've seen the movie. The acting is decent overall, but the special effects and the musical score go great with the movie's horror moments.
If you like classic horror movies, I definitely recommend getting "Child's Play 2." If you get just one movie from the series, get this one! It's no child's play when there's a knife-wielding, cursing, and killer on the loose in the form of a doll. NOTE: That was my Amazon review from the year 2001. I remember more scenes from this one than any other Child's Play movie, so that must mean it's my favorite in the series.

Chucky, once again tries to transform his soul into Andy, his ex owner. This film is brilliant. Although the ending isn't quite as good as the first. Avoid the third, at all costs. A real treat for all Childs Play lovers, Chucky remains the horrific, gory doll that he has always been!

Chucky (the psychopathic doll from the first movie) returns to haunt our child protagonist again, with his new foster parents.
-
Horror movies usually get worse and worse, as they go on, but this movie actually kept the pace up, with it's first. Definatly worth watching!
-
The first one will always be the best but this one was ok.
-
Consistently scary as the original! Chucky is just as nasty of a killer doll too.
Where the heck did the mother (Catherine Hicks) go from the first film? Why did she abandon her boy to those strict parents? I hate it when movie series dump characters in sequels.

Child's Play 2 has the superb Good Guys Doll factory showdown, which ranks as one of the best sequences in the entire series of 5 movies; it's so much fun.

The psychopathic doll returns to transfer his demented his soul into the body of a little boy from the 1988 original, but thanks to Christine Elise who comes to little boy's rescue.

'Child's Play 2' is obviously a rehash of the original, but will still offer enough scares.
