This film has everything a genre fan could ask for, and oddly enough, is a very gorgeous film too. Another inspiration to Sam Raimi (along with Spooky Encounters) this film should not be missed for anyone who enjoys horror, or a good story for that matter. An effing classic.

The movie begins with the wonderful theme song, sung by Leslie Cheung himself. It is an epic Chinese story ornamented with a well adjusted dose of humor. The nocturnal sequences, the silk robes and colors are very well made.

It's kind of a twisted musical... and much of it is utterly silly, but I can't help but love it. Ghosts, demon Yang eaters, Taoist magicians, flying kung fu and a love story that makes you wanna puke. But I can't help but love it.

you can't really miss when you combine classic chinese martial arts with fun comedy and horror. really great to pass up a good time.
