She's fascinated by the 'Sound', a new disco with most modern equipment. Although she's legally too young, she asks a friend to take her. There she meets Detlef, who's in a clique where everybody's on drugs. Step by step she gets drawn deeper into the scene.

What an awakening film. Probably the most accurate movie on the sickening world of drugs. Great performance by the girl who plays Christiane. One of Germany's based-on-true-events greatest drama films ever.

not really comparable to the book. in 2 hours all impressions that the book provides, can't be shown in a movie. at least not in this one.

This is a very good movie, if seen as a "documentary", it should be shown for kids in school, age 14-16, with discussion afterward. Parents should be present to.
I remeber seing this when I was 20, as in Norway it was shown with a rating 18 years.

One of the most verosimil, startling, crude, and disturbing cinema vérité about a 14 year old playing with death in the heart of europe's capital of heroin.

Love foreign flicks and this is one of the best. Based on the true life of Christiane F, it shocks bigtime!

Hard hitting film (with an awesome David Bowie sound track) about a girl who gets mixed up in the drugs scene of Berlin, before progressing to hard drugs and spiralling out of control into prostitution and finally kicking drugs.

Spectacular, any teenager should be made to see this film - let them see what drugs can do to people. Bowie performs on stage and his songs play throughout. I recommend that anyone watch this film, even if you are not a Bowie fan. It is amazing

It's as subtle as being hit with a baseball bat for two hours while your assailant screams "Drugs are BAD" at you but Christiane F is an undeniably powerful film.
Natja Brunckhorst (just 14 or 15 when the film was made, and appearing several years younger) is outstanding as Christiane giving an astonishingly adult and intelligent performance that anchors the film and ensures that it's always riveting.
Also excellent is Thomas Haustein, who appears never to have made another film, something of a waste on this evidence.
The film gets a touch repetitive towards the end and stops dead early on when director Ulirich Edel (later to make Last Exit to Brooklyn and Body of Evidence) takes us to a David Bowie concert for five pointless minutes (and I say this as a great Bowie fan).
Unwaveringly unpleasent and shocking it may be but it's refreshing that the filmmakers choose not to sugarcoat the story at all and nothing that takes place within the film can match, for sheer shock value, the caption at the end that reveals it is a true story.

This film - despite it's harrowingly real footage and story - ended up dragging on a bit more than needed. A young Natja Brunckhorst does an excellent job of portraying the 14 year old Christiane who gets hooked on heroin and gets sucked deep into the underworld of drugs & prostitution. The contrast of her character from beginning to the end is simply amazing. If 'Requiem for a Dream' didn't convince you to lay off the hard drugs then this will!

    DETLIFF!!!!

best vomit scene ever.. a little long, but you get to see a fairly horrible david bowie performance and lots of berlin-prostitution and junkie-ism.
